The New York Times and Nate Silver today list 512 Paths to the White House for Barack Obama, and 76 Paths to the White House for Mitt Romney in graph form, using different combinations of “swing” or “battleground” states to demonstrate the various paths.
Leave it to Nate SIlver, the most brilliant political statistician in America, who continues to say that Obama has an 85 percent chance of winning a second term, while Romney has a 15 percent chance of winning the White House.
Ultimately, in about 36-48 hours, we should know whether Nate Silver remains the “genius”, or is indeed a “paper tiger”!
Bet on Nate Silver would be this author’s advice!
Hello Professor,
Here is my prediction coming from Ohio, the state that is considered to decide the election.
There has been well documented blatant attempt of voter suppression and the fact that Mitt Romney through his son and a sub company of Bain now own the e-voting machines that cover Cincinnati, OH. I can only foresee the preemptive aspects of another stolen election this year with Ohio to blame.
I also see 50% of the U.S. citizens voicing outrage of the blatant steeling of the election and the other 50% cheering their misguided victory.
I saw this kind of crap go down in the third world countries of South America in the mid-1970.
As the German people were duped by propaganda then cheered by chanting, “Victorious Healingâ€â€¦.. or better known in German as, “Sieg Heil!â€
My gosh, I HOPE you are wrong, but I foresee Obama winning 8 of the 9 “swing states”, all but North Carolina, so Ohio may not matter that much, even if the GOP “steals” the election there. Let us all hope for the best, and it is indeed disgusting that we cannot count on both parties and their candidates agreeing they do NOT want stealing of votes, but as we know, Romney has no scruples, ethics or morals, and is a disgraceful nominee, the worst since Richard Nixon! And Nixon, despite everything negative, had some virtues, while Romney has absolutely NONE!
Professor I take great hope in the comment that Ohio could be out of play as the deciding factor. It is so import that the President is given another 4 years to protect the Working Middle Classses of this country.
Professor,
You just finished an entry about conspiracy theories on Obama. Alas, there are also
those on the other side of the ledger and the voting machine conspiracy is one of them.
I guess you can believe what you want. I tend to believe it is not true. Here’s the background from NPR:
http://www.npr.org/blogs/itsallpolitics/2012/11/02/164205676/is-romney-son-gunning-to-steal-ohio-vote-by-rigging-voting-machines
I have not accepted this conspiracy theory, but certainly want more evidence regarding it before I dismiss it completely.
I agree, however, Paul, that people on the left can have the ability to develop conspiracy theories, regrettably!
