We are now in Week 31 of the Trump Presidency, and it could be that it will end up as worse than any week until now, but hopefully not!
We are likely to hear Donald Trump tell us tonight that we are sending more troops to Afghanistan, where nearly 2,400 troops have died in the nearly 16 years of this disastrous war, our longest war in American history.
We are seeing military exercises by South Korea and the United States this week, which could provoke Kim Jong Un of North Korea to start a new Korean war, causing massive loss of life in South Korea, and among American troops.
And Trump is scheduled to have a political rally in Phoenix, Arizona, Tuesday night, further provoking people after the Charlottesville tragedy, and probably announcing a pardon for former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, even before he is formally sentenced for his outrageous mistreatment of immigrant prisoners in his jails.
This is likely to draw more nativists, racists, and neo Nazi types to Arizona, and violence could ensue.
Let us hope this scary forecast does not occur, but it does not look like a good week for the fourth week of August 2017!
Trump in his speech tonight: I’m a problem solver.
Me, yelling at my TV: No, you’re a problem maker!
Sounded like he was threatening Pakistan and India.
Probably trying to provoke them into war with each other.
As predicted, Trump blamed Obama for leaving him a mess in Afghanistan. As predicted, he talked tough but offered no specific plan to move forward, despite the fact that this speech was supposed to offer “A way Forward” in Afghanistan. More huff and puff from the Big Bad Wolf. We’ll plod along over there as always, lose a few GI’s every month to friendly fire from the Afghans, and drop a few bombs on some dirt.
Trump’s week got even worse. Report is that Trump is angry with McConnell over the Russia investigation.
http://www.cnn.com/2017/08/22/politics/mitch-mcconnell-trump-relationship/index.html
There’s also news that his Interior Secretary is under investigation for threatening Senator Murkowski.
MSNBC is showing some of his rally. He’s currently lying to his red meat audience about his Charlottesville comments.
New polling – 54% say Trump should resign if Russian collaboration happened.
He just publicly promised to his red meat audience that he’s going to pardon that sheriff….but not tonight.
What he did in his speech after I went to bed last night:
–Attacked John McCain over his Trumpcare vote.
–Wants a government shutdown if he doesn’t get his wall.
I think that Trump is bipolar. Teleprompter Trump is Dr. Bruce Banner. Rally Trump is the Hulk.
Oh my god, Princess Leia! HAHAHA!
I heard that African American guy that was shown in the audience was a plant. He was interviewed this morning. He was paid $10 per hour. He believes that Obama is the Anti-Christ.
Oh wow, Rational Lefty, nothing is beyond belief, it seems!
Washington Post has info about him. He’s been a member of a cult and has a violent past. He calls himself “Michael the Black Man”. Fits in well with the rest of the deplorables.

I agree with Charles Pierce. I have no more patience for Trump supporters either.

Another Trump aide is under scrutiny in the Russia investigation.

Cat 3 hurricane heading to Texas. Probably going to be Trump’s Katrina.
http://www.cnn.com/2017/08/24/us/tropical-storm-harvey/index.html
They’re calling for up to 20 to 30 inches of rain in some areas because the storm is predicted to stall and unload torrential downpours for four to six straight days.
Interior secretary wants the Trump administration to alter some national monuments.

If someone doesn’t live in a community where people feel free to talk like this, then I can understand why he/she might assume that people voted for Trump because of their economic anxiety.

Excellent post critiquing the Trump voters by Norbrook.

Trump’s Twitter feed ignores the hurricane and the flooding that will happen in Texas.

Another Friday night and poop is hitting the fan big time!
Hurricane is now Cat 4
New subpoenas issued in Russiagate
North Korea fired off some short range missiles
Gorka resigned
Trump signed a directive banning transgender people in the military
Trump pardoned Sheriff Joe Arpaio
My head is spinning. Anyone else?
My stomach is churning.
Hurry up Mueller! Save us all!
Charlie Sykes on Chris Hayes’ All In show said something very chilling:
I have to say that I’m not quite as optimistic as some of the others on tonight about what it says about the ability of all of our institutions to push back against the overreach. Look, this is about the rule of law, and Donald Trump is testing the limits of Presidential power. And what he did tonight was to flex his muscles and to basically say, “Look, there people who are above the law; there are things for which we have no checks and balances; there is no going back on all of this.†And I think that people need to realize that this is a President who I think is completely capable of using this kind of pardon power to extricate himself from the Russia investigation. So I think it is legitimate to raise those questions, that really what you’re having here is laying out the template, “I am the President; I can do this; no one can stop me.†And this is kind of a revelation, I think, to a lot of Americans who think that our system of checks and balances actually is more than just a metaphor.
The entire discussion of the pardon on All In was outstanding — this is the kind of thing Chris Hayes does best. If you didn’t get a chance to see it, I highly recommend trying to track it down.
It seems that Mueller is accelerating in his investigation.
Let us hope!
He loves attention so much, he wants the attention taken off a potential national disaster and put back on him. It is sickening.Â
Exactly. That’s why Trump delayed the pardon until now.
I hear Trump is planning on ending DACA as well.
Friday night news dump takes on a whole new meaning this year.
Trump desperately needs to be impeached, ASAP. But of course Ryan, McConnell et al have no spines, balls, consciences, etc
I’ve been watching the coverage of the rescues in Houston. The local officials are being criticized for their decision not to evacuate the city.
The hurricane’s strength is directly tied to climate change, something Trump and many Republicans don’t believe in.

Saw on the news this morning that, while Texas has been flooding, Trump has been busy tweeting about NAFTA, his border wall, and bragging about his election victory! That man makes me sick, both literally and figuratively!
