Never Again Should America Elect A President Without Any Government Elected Or Appointed Experience, Psychological Testing And Full Financial Information

The experience of Donald Trump should be enough evidence so that never again do we allow a person with zero government experience to run for and win the Presidency.

In ideal terms, it would be good to have a constitutional amendment detailing what a President’s experience should be, but that is clearly never going to happen, and just passing a law would be declared unconstitutional.

But common sense and intelligence should make that a person to run for President should have to meet the following qualifications:

A Presidential candidate should have government service in elective office, including Governors, Mayors, US Senators, US Congressmen or appointed service, including being a Cabinet officer under one or more Presidents or have served in the US military, and reach a high level of rank in any branch of the armed forces of the United States.

However, also a requirement should be that a Presidential candidate must submit to psychological testing, as to his mental stability.

Additionally, any Presidential candidate must be required to submit full financial information for the previous 20 years, with no blocking of any information allowed.

IF these requirements are met, we would never again face the disaster of Donald Trump, a totally ignorant, uneducated, incompetent, and dangerous person to have control of the military and nuclear codes.

The point is that government is NOT a business, and so just being in business does not qualify one to be President of the United States!

    Article II:

“5: No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.”

    I support this.

Ronald, if he meets the eligibility, has my support.

Everyone else, who also meets the eligibility of being president of the United States, has my support.

I, even though not interested, meet the eligibility. I have my support.

“Support” does not mean “my vote.” It means I support this and do not support the idea that someone has to hold elected office prior to being president of the United States. I do not support a psychological test for a person prior to being president of the United States. I support the purpose of the following: “Government of the people, by the people, for the people…” (Abraham Lincoln).

Donald Trump, even if you did not vote for him, do not like him, do not want him to be for one more minute the 45th president of the United States, is one of the people. He meets the eligibility. Even though I did not vote for him, I do support this Article and Section of the United States Constitution.

D, I must admit., for the first time, I am surprised by your entry.

I said we cannot change the requirements legally, but that I thought this should be the kind of factors that should be expected in the future.

I still stand by my entry!

    Amen to that, Professor!

D – Most people expect a president to act presidential, not act like a petulant child.

Princess Leia, in all fairness, I do NOT think D is arguing for Trump’s behavior!

For most people, the act of voting means that you are showing your support for someone.

When most people vote, they factor in other things besides if the person they are voting for meets a certain citizenship requirement or if that person meets a certain age requirement.

For many people that opted not to vote for Trump, they primarily did so because of how he behaves.

Tuesday, 08.28.2018, @ 10:00 p.m. ET: The 2018 Demcoratic gubernatorial nomination from Florida was won tonight not by Gwen Graham but by Andrew Gillum. This is interesting.

Yes, D, so now we could witness an African American male as Governor of Florida, and an African American female (Stacey Abrams) as Governor of Georgia!.

If the Democrats succeed in flipping a new majority count of governorships—following the U.S. House and the U.S. Senate—both Florida and Georgia would likely be part of that outcome.

The Democrats head into November’s general election, for the 2018 midterm elections, with 16 governorships. (This follows the Democrats’ November 2017 pickup of New Jersey and their solidified 2013-to-2017 with winning a party hold of Virginia.) The Democrats are favored to likely flip these four:

    (17) Illinois
    (18) New Mexico
    (19) Michigan
    (20) Maine

To reach at least six more, for that minimum of a new majority of 26, here is an estimate of how that would be:

    (21) Nevada
    (22) Florida
    (23) Wisconsin
    (24) Ohio
    (25) Iowa
    (26) Georgia

    Any more may include:

    (27) Arizona
    (28) Kansas
    (29) Maryland
    (30) Oklahoma

Let us keep in mind this fact: Since 1995, following the midterm elections of 1994, the party which had majority control of the U.S. House also had the majority count of governorships. Not enough has been mentioned, outside of this blog site, of the importance of the governorships, and that the Democrats should win over a new majority, but that should pick up steam.

You are correct, D, and thanks for noticing that I try to keep up with the governorships, as I well realize their importance in reapportionment of state legislatures and the House of Representatives, after the Census of 2020, as well as the many battles that go on within states about health care, education, and so many other important issues!

On Nicole Wallace’s show this afternoon, her panel was discussing about Trump doesn’t listen to his cabinet. Instead he gets advice from Fox News. Since he’s doing that, the Fox News people might as well be the cabinet.
