The South Of Slavery And Racial Segregation Now The South Of Denial Of Health Care And War On Women’s Rights!

The American South, the area of slavery and racial segregation in its past, is once again demonstrating that it is the area of denial of civil and human rights.

In the past, it was the Democratic Party that worked to deny human rights and dignity.

Now it is the Republican Party, the party that had fought for civil and human rights in the mid 19th century.

A total switch which remains startling, but now the emphasis is on denying health care to millions of poor whites and minorities, and taking away the right of women to control their own bodies and reproductive life.

The Medicaid Program enacted into law by Lyndon B. Johnson in 1966 now is being denied to help the health and safety of poor Americans, most particularly in Texas and Florida, but throughout the American South, as well as other Republican controlled states.

The section of the nation that demands that all fetuses be born, no matter what condition they are in, or how the woman became pregnant, is only too willing to deny health care, which undermines and shortens the lives of their less fortunate constituents.

This is so mind boggling, and it is as if the American South is still fighting the Civil War a century and a half later, continuing to be lacking in humanity and common decency.

The Trial Of The Century Awaits Us In Georgia And Washington DC!

With the likely televising of the Georgia Trial of Donald Trump, and possibly the same for the Washington DC federal trial as well, there is no question that we are awaiting the “Trial of the Century”.

In the 20th century, we had a number of so called “Trials of the Century”, including:

The Leopold-Loeb Murder Trial of 1924

The Scopes Evolution Trial of 1925

The Lindbergh Kidnapping Trial of 1935

The Julius and Ethel Rosenberg Espionage Trial of 1951

The O J Simpson Murder Trial of 1994-1995

Only the last one was covered by television, but only the Rosenberg Trial had anywhere near the same impact that the Donald Trump Trials will have!

Donald Trump Finally Gets His Comeuppance, No Longer In Control Of His Destiny!

Donald Trump is finally getting his comeuppance, learning he is no longer in control of his destiny!

His attorneys tried to dictate to federal judge Tanya Chutkan that his federal trial be delayed to April 2026.

His attorney acted like a bully, raising his voice, but was told to tone down.

Chutkan asked for an alternative between the original plan for January 2024 and April 2026, but with no willingness to negotiate, the Trump attorney was shown the power of the courts, and the date was just pushed back two months, and will start on March 4, 2024!

Ironically, if that date holds, it will be the 235th anniversary of the official Inauguration date of Presidents from 1789 through 1933. The federal government under the Constitution was declared in effect on that day in 1789.

However, in reality, George Washington actually was inagurated 57 days late, on April 30, 1789, due to delays in being able to leave his Mount Vernon estate’s tobacco planting season to travel by horseback to New York City, the first capital of the nation.

This would be the only time that the President was not inaugurated on time, an interesting piece of trivia!

Donald Trump Likely To Be Convicted On Some Of 91 Charges Over 4 Indictments!

When one looks at facts, realities, and evidence, the odds are very good that Donald Trump will eventually be convicted on some of the 91 charges brought against him under 4 indictments.

There is so much evidence that is clearcut, and Trump has “put his foot in his mouth” in a symbolic sense so often, that to believe that there will not be a jury of 12 people in one or more of the four indictments, who will convict him on one or more charges, is to live in an alternate universe of one’s own making.

It is true that as long as just one juror in each of the four cases votes not to convict, that Trump could be saved from conviction, but again, that is such a long shot, that it would seem to anyone who believes in reality that Trump WILL be convicted!

Also, some of the people charged in at least the Georgia case are bound to “flip”, and that will help to promote conviction of Trump on at least some of the charges against him.

But since so many charges are closely related, it is highly likely that Trump will be convicted on a majority of the charges brought against him!

It is essential that the American people be able to see the federal trial, as well as the state of Georgia trial, as then there will be no way for conspiracy theorists to deny reality, when it is on display in the courtroom!

Vivek Ramaswamy Is Trump 2.0! Highly Dangerous Candidacy!

Vivek Ramaswamy, the 38 year old biotech billionaire entrepreneur candidate for the Republican Presidential nomination, has become the big star of the first Republican Presidential debate, despite having zero qualifications for the Presidency.

He is a young, brash, cocky, arrogant Donald Trump 2.0, who is clearly vying to be Donald Trump’s Vice Presidential running mate, if Trump is, as seems likely, the Republican candidate for President for a third time, despite his four indictments and a total of 91 counts against him.

Nikki Haley, Mike Pence, and Chris Christie made him subject to their attacks, and rightfully so, as he has no background in foreign policy, and promotes an extremist right wing agenda that would be a disaster if he was to end up in the Oval Office in the future!

And his statement that Donald Trump was the greatest President of the 21st century, over Barack Obama, Joe Biden, and George W. Bush, is a clear sign of his lunatic nature, and the danger of his candidacy for the Trump cult, which lives in an alternate universe!

60th Anniversary Of March On Washington: Need For Renewal Of That Effort!

Today, 60 years after the famous March on Washington in 1963, and the legendary speech by the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther, King Jr. calling for justice and basic civil rights for African Americans and other discriminated groups, we are having a commitment to restore the civil rights that are under attack in recent years by the US Supreme Court, the Republican Party, and extreme right wing forces.

It is expected that about 100,000 people will participate in today’s commemoration in Washington, DC, as compared to the 250,000 who did so on August 28, 1963.

The struggle against forces that have taken away the right to vote requires a new national commitment to restoring the weakened Voting Rights Act of 1965.

And the open racism and nativism and misogyny promoted by Donald Trump and his minions must be fought tooth and nail through lawsuits, marches, and demonstrations against state governments that are limiting basic human rights, with Florida, Texas, Tennessee, and Alabama in the leadership of setting American rights and freedoms in the wrong direction!

Donald Trump Condemned To Last Place In Presidential Rankings For All Time!

It is now official: Donald Trump is condemned to last place in Presidential rankings for all time!

With two impeachments and four indictments, and with a total of 91 counts against the 45th President, he falls into the basement, so to speak, as for all time the worst, most corrupt President, and it is hard to imagine any future President being as horrendous as he has now been judged by facts and reality!

His mugshot will reverberate in history for the long run, a symbol of a would be tyrant who would never leave office, if it had not been for courageous and principled people around him who stood in the way of the establishment of an autocracy that would have destroyed the American Republic!

A lot of this tragedy was caused by Donald Trump himself, and his desire to destroy American democracy, the Constitution, and the rule of law, and puts him in an exclusive spot as a wannabe Fascist authoritarian who almost succeeded in his quest to be President for life!

And Trump is delusional, trying to raise money on his mugshot from gullible Americans, when to believe that he will evade ALL 91 counts in four cases against him, is truly a warped mind who lives in an alternative universe! Why would any sane American wish to buy a T shirt with the Trump mugshot on it is beyond all sanity!

Realize that almost all of the witnesses in the various cases against Donald Trump are REPUBLICANS, who thankfully refused to participate in the attack on democracy, at the same time that so many others, including present Republican contenders for the Presidency either stayed on the sidelines or participated in trying to overthrow the accurate results of the Presidential Election of 2020!

Yes, other Presidents have been judged in the past as the worst, including James Buchanan, Andrew Johnson, Franklin Pierce, and Warren G. Harding, but none of them, with their faults and shortcomings, come anywhere near the venality of Donald Trump!

Even the other most corrupt President, Richard Nixon, would be stunned at the level of evil that Donald Trump represents, and Nixon had some real accomplishments which have prevented him from ending up in the bottom few Presidents!

One might say Donald Trump accomplished some noteworthy achievements, but his level of evil is so massive that it cannot save him from the basement of history long term!

Ironically, Donald Trump will have a full scale Presidential funeral, and likely will have, at some point, a Presidential Library and Museum, as even Richard Nixon had, but the stain of what he did and tried to do to subvert American democracy will never be overcome in the annals of history!

Milwaukee Republican Presidential Debate: Conclusions!

This author and blogger stayed up to watch the Fox News Republican Presidential debate in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, quite a sacrifice, but seen as essential to understand the Republican Party mind!

Conclusions:

So called “winners”—Chris Christie, Nikki Haley

Holding their own–Mike Pence, Tim Scott

Horrifying and crashing—Ron DeSantis, Vivek Ramaswamy

Having no impact—Asa Hutchinson, Doug Burgum

Two main thoughts:

Vivek Ramaswamy was attacked and vilified by Chris Christie, Mike Pence, and Nikki Haley, rightfully!

There is a major split on the issue of Ukraine—with Chris Christie, Nikki Haley, and Mike Pence speaking up for support, and Ron DeSantis and Vivek Ramaswamy calling for an end of aid to Ukraine.

There is a clearcut refusal to attack Donald Trump, except by Chris Christie and Asa Hutchinson.

Further discussion will follow when there is time to analyze the effects of this debate.

All one can say for now is: thank goodness that Joe Biden is in the White House!

Vivek Ramaswamy: An Arrogant, Cocky, Scary Amateur Running For President!

Vivek Ramaswamy, the son of Hindu immigrants, who is estimated at age 38 to be a billionaire from his biotechnology industry investments, is an arrogant, cocky, scary amateur running for President, and has succeeded in gaining enough support in public opinion polls to be on the stage tonight at the Republican Presidential debate in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

A graduate of Harvard University and Yale University Law School, he is an extreme right wing candidate, working to be more extreme than Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, and promising he would pardon Donald Trump on Day One if he was elected President.

He describes himself as an “anti woke activist”, meaning he looks down upon those who have compassion, empathy, decency, sincerity, and concern for those who are not privileged as he is!

Ramaswamy is utterly brash, cocky, and has tremendous hubris, who thinks he is supremely qualified to be President. He is the person to watch tonight, and it is believed that Ron DeSantis is ready to apply the hatchet to him, at the same time that Chris Christie and Asa Hutchinson are also ready to go after DeSantis, who is fast deteriorating as a serious candidate for the Presidency.

Ramaswamy is running as Trump 2.0, and his foreign policy beliefs are totally scary and shocking, as he would reduce or end aid to Israel, Ukraine, and Taiwan; and allow Russia to keep the area of Ukraine that he controls at the moment, and prevent Ukraine from being part of NATO.

Domestically, he would work against transgender rights; environmental concerns; dealing with COVID 19’s continued threat even today; is supportive of the National Rifle Assocation; extremely anti abortion; calls to abolish the Department of Education, the FBI, and the IRS; wants to expand presidential power, pledging to rule by executive fiat; and wants to raise the voting age to 25 by constitutional amendment!

If Ramaswamy somehow was elected President, one can imagine as the youngest President that he would wish to remain in power for life, rather than leave office in his mid 40s.

He can be seen as a younger generation Fascist authoritarian, who would be a threat to the Bill of Rights and the Constitution, and he should not be ignored, and needs to be observed closely both tonight and in future months, as his fortune and self support means he is not going to withdraw at any point before the battle is over for the Republican nomination.

And even more scary and terrifying is his statement that he would consider lunatic Robert F. Kennedy, Jr as his Vice Presidential running mate!

The Destruction Of Ron DeSantis Candidacy On Wednesday Evening!

The odds are very good that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who has been a weak second to Donald Trump in public opinion polls of Republicans, will be eviscerated on Wednesday night at the Fox News Channel Republican Presidential debate in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

DeSantis has been in free fall, after being seen as a serious candidate in the early months of 2023, but he has failed to draw support due to his unpleasant personality and his vicious policies that are undermining the state of Florida.

Expect Chris Christie, Asa Hutchinson, and Will Hurd to go on the attack, as they are the “best” of a weak lot of opponents of Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis.

Who will emerge as the “best” alternative to Trump may not matter, based on the overwhelming support Trump has from what can best be called a “religious cult”, very dangerous and mentally disturbed individuals who live in a fantasy world!
