This author and blogger is stunned by the shocking, disturbing results of the Presidential Election of 2024, and fears that the future of the nation is gloomy under a second term of Donald Trump.
It will take time for me to process the terrible events, so I will write when I feel able to express my deep feelings and thoughts.
I will just say for now that this is the most shocking event to occur, since January 6, 2021; September 11, 2001; and November 22, 1963, in my lifetime.
I wish all my readers peace and solitude, but realize it is hard for any of us to gain that sense of security.
That is all for the time being!
I am shocked, saddened, angered, etc.
From what I’ve been hearing, the turnout for this election was less than it was in 2020.
If you don’t vote, this is the results you will get.
Vox talks about a trend in this year’s election results.
When you zoom in on the details of the results, there’s a striking pattern: Democratic Senate candidates are outperforming Harris. Or, put another way, Republican Senate candidates are doing worse than Trump.
This suggests that Harris’s electoral struggles were more about Biden’s unpopularity and her association with his administration than any newfound love of the American public for the Republican Party generally. (This is also reflected in the House of Representatives contest currently looking somewhat close and in Democratic success at the state level in places like North Carolina.)
You can call them the “I don’t like Republicans much, but the economy was better under Trump” voters. Biden lost them, and Harris failed to get them back.

I agree with Washington Monthly:
Democrats Will Win Again Once the Economy Tanks

Another trend that helped Trump win is that incumbents all over the world are doing poorly.

Another thing is Gen Z. Gen Z is leaning more right than its predecessors. Trump appeared on online streams and podcasts targeting young men of Gen Z.

Biden will be speaking this morning at 11.

Bernie Sanders says that the Democratic Party has abandoned working class people. He also says that Democrats’ stance on the Gaza war should not be overlooked.

Oh my gosh. This nightmare keeps getting worse and worse.
Former Donald Trump adviser Steve Bannon proposed the unthinkable for many Americans to Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.): That she could be the new Homeland Security secretary under the president-elect.

That’s what scares me the most. All the nuts that Trump will put in charge of various federal agencies.
If anyone missed it, here is Harris’s concession speech.

I was crying, just like some people in the crowd were.
Of course Bernie Sanders slams DEMOCRATS for the loss. That’s what he does…

I think that Bernie has a good point.
I very highly disagree in regards to what Bernie has said. Harris spoke to people’s needs regarding the economy, offering actual, detailed plans.
I second that Leia. Many Americans voted against their self-interest.

Exactly, Rustbelt.
Right now, Kamala Harris has won Virginia with a wider margin than Hillary Clinton in 2016, which is not the case in a majority of other states. There are currently over 127,000 outstanding provisional ballots, with over 50 percent of these in 17 strong Democratic localities. With this, her margin of victory in Virginia is expected to widen.

Donald Trump gained much less ground in Virginia than in most other blue states.
