Adam Kinzinger Of Illinois

The Danger Of Kevin McCarthy Being Two Heartbeats Away From The Presidency In 2023

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy of California has engaged in a great coverup regarding the events of January 6, 2021, but we have now learned that he was ready to promote the resignation of Donald Trump, until he changed his mind and caved in to Trump.

McCarthy has led a campaign to defeat Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger, the only Republicans to show courage and join the January 6 House Committee investigating the horrible events of that day.

With the exception of a small group of other House Republicans who joined Cheney and Kinzinger in supporting impeachment of Donald Trump for his rhetoric and actions on January 6, the party has engaged in a coverup.

Kevin McCarthy so desperately wants to be Speaker of the House that he has shown himself to be a coward in promoting the “Big Lie” about his involvement and interaction around the events of that day.

The danger now is that McCarthy, were he to become Speaker of the House, would disgrace that office, as he has no principles, ethics, or morals, and is willing to sell his soul to Donald Trump!

The nightmare scenario about Kevin McCarthy is that if was to become Speaker of the House, he would be two heartbeats away from the Presidency, as under the Presidential Succession Act of 1947, the only people standing in the way of the Presidency are President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris!

Even worse is the possibility that someone far worse than even McCarthy, such as Ohio Congressman Jim Jordan or others who are equally reprehensible, could become Speaker in place of McCarthy!

It is essential that the Republicans NOT win the majority in the House of Representatives, as that would also mean the end of the investigation into the most dangerous threat to the US Capitol and American government stability since the War of 1812!

The Ten Leading Heroes Of The Year 2021 In American Politics!

When one looks back at the year 2021, the following ten individuals, a very selective list and certainly not inclusive, stand out as heroes, people who upheld American democracy, the Constitution, and the rule of law.

We will begin with Republicans who demonstrated their statesmanship and courage:

Congresswoman Liz Cheney of Wyoming
Congressman Adam Kinzinger of Illinois
Senator Lisa Murkowski of Alaska

The following Democrats also stand out for their statesmanship and courage:

Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi of California
Congressman Adam Schiff of California
Congressman Jamie Raskin of Maryland
Supreme Court Associate Justice Sonia Sotomayor
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer of New York
Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts
Senator Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota

37 Members Of Congress Leaving In 2022, With 22 No Longer Seeking Public Office

Thirty seven members of Congress, including six US Senators, are leaving office in 2022, with fifteen House members seeking a Senate seat or a a Governorship or other office, rather than retiring completely from politics.

Some are worthy of attention as follows:

Five Republican Senators:

Richard Burr of North Carolina
Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania
Rob Portman of Ohio
Richard Shelby of Alabama
Roy Blunt of Missouri

and Democratic Senator Patrick Leahy of Vermont

In the House of Representatives, notable retirements include:

Devin Nunes (R) of California
Peter DeFazio (D) of Oregon
Jackie Speier (D) of California
Adam Kinzinger (R) of Illinois
John Yarmuth (D) of Kentucky
Anthony Gonzalez (R) of Ohio

Amonag those running for the US Senate:

Peter Welch (D) of Vermont
Conor Lamb (D) of Pennsylvania
Val Demings (D) of Florida
Tim Ryan (D) of Ohio
Mo Brooks (R) of Alabama

Running for Governor:

Charlie Crist (D) of Florida
Tom Suozzi (D) of New York
Lee Zeldin (R) of New York

Also, running for Mayor of Los Angeles–Karen Bass (D) of California

Finally, The Physical Infrastructure Legislation Is Passed In The House Of Representatives With Bipartisan Vote!

Finally, overnight, the House of Representatives passed the Physical Infrastructure bill that had passed the US Senate with a bipartisan vote of 69-30 in August.

And happily, there were 13 Republicans who supported the legislation in the House, making the legislation truly a bipartisan accomplishment, with a final vote of 228-206.

This is a major victory for Joe Biden and the Democrats, despite the tortuous delay of more than two months, and the $1.2 trillion of spending on roads, airports, bridges, rail systems, broadband, environmental cleanup, and electric vehicles will advance the American economy dramatically!

The nation desperately needed this legislation, and it will help the Democratic argument to keep them in the majority in the 2022 Midterm Congressional Elections a year from now!

However, with all of the excitement that this legislation engenders, it IS a fact that without the 13 Republicans, including a number who voted to impeach Donald Trump the second time, the legislation would NOT have passed, as 6 “Progressives” voted against it, including

Jamaal Bowman of New York
Cori Bush of Missouri
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York
Ilhan Omar of Minnesota
Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts
Rashida Tlaib of Michigan

The latter four have been called the “Squad”, and the first two have been considered to be additions to the group by the news media, and seemingly, have indicated they are glad to be part of the group.

Four of the 13 House Republicans who supported the legislation also supported impeachment of Donald Trump in January 2021:

Adam Kinzinger of Illinois (not running for reelection)
Anthony Gonzalez of Ohio (not running for reelection)
Fred Upton of Michigan
John Katko of New York

Even without the other nine Republicans, those four principled Republican House members who did the right thing on both impeachment and the infrastructure bill, basically saved the legislation, as with their votes alone, the legislation would have passed 219-215!

The present House of Representatives has 221 Democrats, and 213 Republicans, so there is a working majority of just three members, although the Democrats have eight more members than the Republicans.
