Back From Rome, Italy Vacation To True Madness!

This author and blogger has been away on vacation for two weeks, taking a well deserved break and hitting the mark of being 80 years old.

Part of that vacation was traveling to Rome, Italy with my older son to experience the heritage of the Roman Empire, and it was very enlightening, and revealing, how what happened to Rome in ancient times seems to be happening in America in the 21st century, a sense of true madness!

The fact that we are seeing the conflict between MAGA Republicans and technocrats, including Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, makes clear that we are headed toward total chaos and anarchy.

The two factions, one very racist, misogynist, and nativist, clashes with the billionaires which include people of color and foreign birth in the battle for control of future policy.

The idea that Donald Trump is threatening to take control of the Panama Canal, given back by treaty under Jimmy Carter, and taking place in 2000, is astounding.

The repeated desire of Trump to take over Greenland from Denmark, and to suggest all of Canada as the 51st state is mind boggling.

The growing threat to journalism and freedom of the press of all kinds, including comedy, and also commentary, even by bloggers like this author, is stunning.

With only 23 days until Joe Biden leaves office, and Donald Trump returns to the Oval Office, there is a sense of foreboding that one wonders about the upcoming 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence only 18 months away!

Republican Attacks On FBI, IRS, Election Workers A Reckless And Dangerous Escalation!

Republican Party leaders are escalating attacks on the FBI after the Department of Justice ordered intervention at Mar A Lago to retrieve national security documents illegally removed by Donald Trump when he left the White House.

Threats on the law enforcement agency and its agents make the Republican Party look like the party of lawlessness, chaos, and anarchy. This is all in the name of a former President who is promoting Fascist authoritarianism in his mission to regain power with the intention of destroying government institutions, with the help of the MAGA mob that can be seen as domestic terrorists, and Trump promoting their extremism.

But also, future potential House Speaker Kevin McCarthy is encouraging such action, with his promotion of conspiracy theories, along with a whole group of other reckless Republicans.

And Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley, who if reelected in November at age 89, would be President Pro Tempore if the Republicans become the majority in the US Senate, is asserting a preposterous claim. According to Grassley, the new Inflation Reduction Act of Joe Biden, which allows 87,000 new Internal Revenue Service employees, is going to lead to such new employees having the authority to use force, including assault rifles against small business owners and middle class tax payers to collect taxes!

This is pure insanity, and to think that the third and fourth ranking government officials that may arise after the midterm elections are attacking the federal government’s ability to do their jobs of public safety and tax collection, is an alarm bell for the future of extremism!

And also, election workers are being threatened all over the nation, as Republicans aim at insuring that their party will take control of election machinery and insure that only Republicans can win elections in the future!

The Republican Party has become a “clear and present danger” to American democracy and the rule of law, and has made the Midterm Elections of 2022 more urgent than any midterm elections in the past!

Republicans Are Now The Party Of Anarchy And Support Of Domestic Terrorism: Mind Boggling!

The Republican Party has now become the party of anarchy and chaos, and support of domestic terrorism, absolutely mind boggling!

Not only did much of the party in Congress support denying Joe Biden his Electoral College win!

Many have chosen to ignore the reality of the January 6 Insurrection, a domestic terrorism that caused death, injuries, and destruction at the US Capitol, and just want to move on!

And now, eight Republican Senators have opposed putting mask opponents on a “no fly list”, who have committed the equivalent of domestic terrorism against airline employees and passengers innumerable times on domestic and foreign flights!

Such unruly passengers on aviation flights should face arrest and imprisonment, but more than that!

They should be barred from EVER again being able to use any airline for any flights anywhere!

But these eight Republican Senators—Rick Scott and Marco Rubio of Florida; Mike Lee of Utah; Cynthia Lummis of Wyoming; Ted Cruz of Texas; Kevin Cramer of North Dakota; James Lankford of Oklahoma; and John Hoeven of North Dakota, think otherwise, which is astounding beyond belief!

This is recklessness and lack of concern for public safety beyond the pale!

Extremist Right Wing Media Spewing “Alternative Facts”, “Alternative Truth”, And Pure Hatred And Division

The extremist right wing media are spewing forth lie after lie about the Presidential Election of 2020, promoting refusal to accept Joe Biden’s victory, and insuring chaos, anarchy, violence and lawlessness on Inauguration Day and beyond!

These media sources promote alternative facts, an alternative truth, and incite pure hate and division, and not just on politics, but also on health and science, as they deny climate change and the COVID 19 Pandemic, to the detriment of the American people!

Anarchy, Chaos, Mayhem: The Donald Trump Presidency!

The best description of the Donald Trump Presidency is that it is a time of anarchy, chaos, mayhem!

The man in office is dangerous, unpredictable, and seems certifiably crazy, and yet the Cabinet and Vice President Mike Pence have gone along with his insanity, and are complicit in his crimes against humanity!

The nightmare is not over, as one cannot be sure that Trump will not find an illegal, unethical manner, with foreign collusion and voter suppression methods, to win a second term, although that seems highly unlikely, more than ever.

But the crisis if Trump loses, and refuses to concede or leave office, then we will have a situation that has never occurred before, as in every close contest and even challenge on the Presidency, including 1876, 2000, and 2016, the result was accepted, even if grudgingly.

But Donald Trump is not Samuel Tilden, Al Gore, or Hillary Clinton, and is sure to create anarchy, chaos, and mayhem even to the last minute of the term, sadly!

The Collapse Of Supreme Court Reputation And Evangelical Christian Legitimacy, But John Kasich Emerges As Rare Sane Voice In Republican Party

The Supreme Court has reached a crossroads, and will be going back a century to its most conservative nature since the Gilded Age. In the process, the concept of balance is gone, and the Court is losing its reputation as a reliable judgment on the meaning of the Constitution.

The Evangelical Christian movement is also losing its legitimacy, and is now shown for what it is, totally immoral, unethical, NOT based on the teachings and social justice of Jesus Christ, and undermining respect for an institution that is revealed as totally hypocritical, and displaying its misogyny.

We need the Supreme Court, but we do NOT need a religiously fanatical and false group, which is only interested in forcing theocracy on America, which the American people at large will NOT tolerate.

So we are entering the most dangerous period in more than 150 years, since the Civil War raged in the 1860s.

And Donald Trump is reveling in all this, as he works to undermine what is left of American democracy, and hopes to grab power and become an absolute dictator for the rest of his life.

Interestingly, in the midst of this promotion of chaos and anarchy by Donald Trump, we DO have a sane Republican, outgoing Governor John Kasich of Ohio, who on Sunday morning on CNN is emphasizing the need for unity and crossing the aisle. It is clear he will challenge Trump or Mike Pence for the Presidency in 2020, and his is one of the very few sane voices in the Republican Party, which at this point, seems “owned” by Donald Trump, but needs a strong challenge from someone like Kasich.

What Donald Trump is promoting must be bitterly opposed by mass action in the streets, and if the police refuse to honor the right of citizens under the Bill of Rights to peacefully demonstrate for redress of grievances, than a real violent reaction is likely, which Donald Trump will pay for in the annals of history!

Donald Trump And The Republican Party Have No Shame: No Limit To Their Abuse Of Power And Only Interest In Self Preservation

America and the world are living in an alternate reality.

All semblance of ethics, morality, patriotism, and dedication to our Constitution is gone, in the era of Donald Trump and the modern Republican Party.

All semblance of duty to country, and to the advancement of the nation, has disappeared, and now, the only goal is to sweep all scandal and abuse under the rug, and perpetuate oneself in power, dropping all sense of shame.

The Republican Party has had a long, distinguished history since 1854, but in 2019, it should be declared bankrupt, and die in history, as the Whig Party did 165 years ago.

The party has lost all sense of right and wrong, and its history of some great Presidents and some great members of Congress and governors, is all lost in the morass of destruction of America’s domestic and foreign policy.

Not only have the events of the past three years shamed America, but it has also demonstrated that modern conservatism is bankrupt, and that evangelical Christianity, and also the hard line Catholic community, and the orthodox Jewish community, have all sold their soul to the corruption and mismanagement of Donald Trump.

So these extreme religious groups also need to be swept out in the dustbin of history.

Will it happen? If it does not, then America is on the road to constant decline and deterioration, and America, as an example of democracy and freedom, and as a beacon to the world on the potential for the advancement of mankind, will be lost, in the midst of a nation in anarchy and chaos long term.
