Mike Pence Has No Political Future

Former Vice President Mike Pence was booed and called a “Traitor” at a “Faith And Freedom Coalition” right wing conference over the weekend.

This demonstrates how far right wing many Republicans have become, as they are tied to former President Donald Trump, and are angry that Pence did what he had to do on January 6, 2021, to certify the victory of Joe Biden in the Presidential Election of 2020.

The fact that Pence was in danger of being hanged on the day of the Capitol Hill Insurrection makes one ever more shocked at how he is now being treated, as if his life being in danger was not important!

It is clear that the chances of Pence to run for the Presidency, be the nominee, and have any chance to win, is less than Zero at this point!

Mike Pence, with his extremely narrow religious views should never get near the Oval Office in any case, but it is clear that he needs to give up the idea of having a political future, and instead, just write, lecture, and be on corporate boards, where he can become extremely wealthy, but his Vice Presidency has made certain that his office seeking career is over!

On Memorial Day Weekend, Republicans Show Contempt For Preservation Of Democracy!

Memorial Day weekend is a time for remembrance of the contributions of generations of Americans who sacrificed their lives to protect and preserve American democracy.

It is a time to give thanks to those who gave their lives for their country in the Civil War, World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan, and other lesser conflicts in American history.

But now, the Republican Party, the party of Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Dwight D. Eisenhower, and Ronald Reagan, has shown contempt for the concept of preservation of democracy, by refusing to back a bipartisan January 6 Commission to fully investigate the US Capitol Insurrection, which caused the death and injuries of scores of US Capitol Police.

The Republican Party has allowed itself to become part of the cancer of Donald Trump, which is destroying the party’s history and reputation.

No matter what, however, there will be full investigation and accountability for the horrid events of that day, including the threatened hanging of Vice President Mike Pence, and the murder of Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, and the dire threats to other Senators and Congressmen, who if not for the Capitol Police commitment, might have become victims as well!

An Investigation Of The January 6 Capitol Insurrection Will Occur With Or Without GOP Backing!

It looks as if the Republican Party will refuse to participate in a bipartisan investigation of the January 6 Capitol Insurrection.

But the House of Representatives will conduct such an investigation no matter what, and since 35 Republicans in the House voted for such an investigation, it is likely that some of them, like Lynn Cheney, Adam Kinzinger, and John Katko will cooperate and make it bipartisan even if the Republican Party as a whole stonewalls looking for the truth.

The truth and facts will come out one way or the other, but it would be better to have a bipartisan effort.

By all rights, Kevin McCarthy, Steve Scalise, and Mitch McConnell should all be forced out of office as promoting the “Big Lie” and not caring about the Capitol Police who were assaulted on January 6.

The Republican Party is in free fall, with no future as long as they kiss up to the Fascist dictator, Donald Trump, who seems likely to be indicted soon and hopefully, end up in prison!

Saviors Of The Republican Party Past And Future: “A Call For American Renewal”

There are a substantial number of “name” Republicans who opposed Donald Trump from the beginning, or over time, and are now allied together to be the saviors of the Republican Party past and future, and have now issued “A Call For American Renewal”.

These are not people this blogger and author would support to be elected, as they are overwhelmingly conservatives, but they are people who believe in American democracy, the Constitution, and the rule of law, and want to insure that Trump and his minions do not control the future of the party, as that is the death knell of our system of government!

The purpose is to stop the continuing “Big Lie”, about the Presidential Election of 2020, and about the Capitol Insurrection of January 6, 2021, as that is the cancer in the Republican Party right now, and there cannot be any possibility of avoiding the truth being exposed, and people needing to be prosecuted for treason and sedition.

Donald Trump is a menace, a Fascist authoritarian, who needs to be in prison, and be unable to control the future of the party of Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Ronald Reagan, and George H. W. Bush!

Republican Party Survival Only Possible Long Term With Those Who Reject The “Big Lie” Of Donald Trump!

The Republican Party is at an historic crossroads.

If it continues to back the “Big Lie” of Donald Trump, that he won the Presidential Election of 2020, then it will be destroyed, and go into the dustbin of history, as no party can have its future based on a criminal President who was impeached twice, and lost the popular vote twice by massive margins, and only won the first time due to Russian collusion!

The January 6, 2021 Capitol Insurrection cannot be covered up, and dismissed, as it was an attack on American democracy at its core!

Anyone backing Donald Trump at this point is spoiled goods, and only is inciting division that endangers domestic tranquility, and is a direct threat for civil disorder.

Worship of a man is dangerous, and reminds us of Benito Mussolini and Fascist Italy; Adolf Hitler and Nazi Germany; and Joseph Stalin and the Soviet Union.

So the leadership of the future must be people such as Mitt Romney, Liz Cheney, Adam Kinzinger, and Lisa Murkowski, or else the need for a new conservative mainstream party is an urgency!

Donald Trump, The Republican Party, And Two “Big Lies”!

Donald Trump lost the national popular vote twice, by massive margins, much more than George W. Bush in 2000, Rutherford B. Hayes in 1876, Benjamin Harrison in 1888, and John Quincy Adams in 1824.

Together, he lost by nearly 10 million votes–2.85 million in 2016, and 7.1 million in 2020.

The “Big Lie” is that Donald Trump won EITHER time, 2016 and 2020.

It is clear that the Russians and Vladimir Putin helped to fix the election in 2016 in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania, giving Trump the victory by a combined total of about 78,000 votes.

In 2020, Trump lost much more massively, even in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania, along with Georgia and Arizona, but his party is perpetuating a myth that helped to provoke the Capitol Insurrection of January 6, 2021, for which Donald Trump should be held accountable and be in prison!

Conservatism and the Republican Party are being destroyed, and the idea that nearly 70 percent of Republicans in polls believe the “Big Lie”, and refuse to acknowledge Joe Biden won the Presidency is beyond any sense of reality. This undermines American democracy, rule of law, and respect for the Constitution.

The Republican Party officeholders, with the exception of a small group, including Liz Cheney, Mitt Romney, Adam Kinzinger, Lisa Murkowski, and a few others, has become a Fascist Party, a right wing Populist Party, a worshipper of Donald Trump, as if he is their Adolf Hitler or Benito Mussolini, unwilling or unable to accept the truth, and living in an alternate reality!

This author, blogger and scholar was not thrilled by Mitt Romney during and after his 2012 Presidential campaign, but there has always been respect for his dignity, principles, and basic virtues.

Romney, like John McCain before him, were Republicans this author would not support, but always felt that they presented basic Republican principles in a respectable manner.

Such is not the case with Donald Trump, but it is now clear that the Republican party of history is dying rapidly.

The bitter attacks on John McCain in his last years in the Senate, and the nasty attacks on Mitt Romney for repudiating Trump and voting to convict him on impeachment charges demonstrated that the Republican Party is much like a Fascist Party, controlled and dominated by a lunatic and maniac who has no regard for American democracy.

For Mitt Romney to be booed at a Utah Republican state party event demonstrates how loony the GOP has become!

By all rights, Donald Trump should be in prison for inciting the January 6, 2021 Capital Insurrection, and yet we have crazy Trump followers in the Congress and the state legislatures who bow to him as if he was Benito Mussolini or Adolf Hitler.

One does not have to agree with Mitt Romney on issues to feel sad that he is being mistreated for having basic decency and admirable principles, so we are witnessing the destruction of the party of Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Dwight D. “War” Between House Republican Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy And Congresswoman Liz Cheney

The split in the House Republican minority after the January 6 Capitol Insurrection is widening, as a small band of House Republicans, led by Congresswoman Liz Cheney of Wyoming, daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, continues to denounce Donald Trump and criticize House Republican Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy of California for refusing to separate himself and the majority of the Republican House Caucus from continued support of the former President.

One must realize that 139 of the 212 Republicans in the House of Representatives refused to support the Electoral College vote of January 6, certifying the victory of Joe Biden over Donald Trump, and they are still remaining loyal to Trump, as he ponders running again for President in 2024.

They are traitors, seditionists, white supremacists, and domestic terrorists, who try to make what happened with the Capitol Insurrection seemingly nothing much at all, and Liz Cheney and about ten others have defied McCarthy, and Cheney is raising the ante, and McCarthy is working to undermine her third ranking position as Republican Conference Chairperson.

The future of the Republican Party and its reputation is at state, and it looks likely that the party as we know it is doomed in its future!

Senator Josh Hawley Of Missouri Making His Mark As Worse Than Even Ted Cruz And Tom Cotton!

Missouri Republican Senator Josh Hawley, second youngest Senator, and only in his third year in the US Senate, is making quite a name for himself, but all in a negative fashion!

He is one of the villains who incited the January 6 Capitol Insurrection, refusing to accept the victory of Joe Biden over Donald Trump, and even after the insurrection, refusing to accept reality.

He has lost the support of his mentor, former Missouri Republican Senator John Danforth, who once admired him and saw great promise for the young man, but has now repudiated him totally.

Josh Hawley has the gall to be the only Senator to vote against an Anti Asian Discrimination Bill, beyond understanding!

Even Ted Cruz, Tom Cotton, and others who are equally despicable in so many ways, ALL voted for this legislation!

Josh Hawley wants to be President, as much as Cruz, Cotton, and other disgraceful Republican Senators, but there is NO rationale for being the lone vote against a basic Civil Rights bill!

The aim must be to insure Josh Hawley goes nowhere in the Presidential competition and is prosecuted for treason and sedition for his involvement in the Capitol Insurrection, and end up forced out of the Senate and into a prison cell!
