Alarming Rise Of Antisemitism In Year Since October 7 Massacre In Israel!

Jonathan Greenblatt of the Anti Defamation League has made clear the alarming rising of antisemitism that has emerged since the October 7 Massacre in Israel perpetrated by Hamas, and that has led to a war causing massive destruction and death totals since a year ago.

Antisemitism is nothing new, but the multiplied examples of such hatred is very horrifying, as Jews have long had to deal with hatred, both within America and worldwide.

The greatest massacre of Jews since the Nazi Holocaust of World War II perpetrated by Adolf Hitler was shocking to Jews and their supporters worldwide, and regrettably has led to the mass loss of life in Gaza, the West Bank, and now Beirut, Lebanon, as Israel is working to eliminate the terrorist groups of Hamas and Hezbollah, backed by the extremist Islamic government of Iran.

This past year has been very difficult for this blogger and anyone who cares about the survival of Israel, and for the hostages, about 100, including some Americans, who remain prisoners in the Gaza Strip.

It has caused tumult and confrontations on college campuses across America, as well as violence on city streets across the nation, and with the anniversary tomorrow of the crisis, it remains a major international, as well as domestic, crisis that seems to have no resolution.

Antisemitism On College Campuses Alarming!

The Israel-Hamas War in the Gaza Strip has created a new wave of antisemitism on American college campuses.

It has caused threats and dangers to American Jewish students, and has led to massive demonstrations and sitins on campuses, as well as blockages of traffic in New York City and elsewhere.

The House Republicans have exploited this issue, condemning university Presidents who have, in many cases, been slow to take any action.

But it has also led to criticism at Columbia University, who has banned various student groups and expelled some students, and cracked down on “academic freedom’ of some college professors.

This whole situation is very awkward in so many ways, with no easy solution, but to have student groups promoting hate and desire to destroy Israel’s right to exist, and to threaten all American Jews, is unacceptable.

College professors have the responsibility to promote dialogue, not to advocate for hate and division in any controversy, as they are perceived as role models for students.

So debate and discussion with a professor being the moderator is the only proper role, and the purpose should be to bring the temperature down and promote interaction without taking away the safety and security and basic rights of all concerned!

Disturbing Reaction Of Pro Palestinian Demonstrators As Compared To Pro Israeli Demonstrators Across America!

The Israeli-Hamas Conflict was precipitated by that terrorist group attacking Israeli civilians and slaughtering about 1,200 men, women, children and babies, and including many foreign nationals in Israel on October 7.

Israel has every right to respond, as they are doing, sadly leading to more than 11,000 people in the Gaza Strip killed, as Israel pursues Hamas.

This is highly regrettable, but the reaction in America of the two opposing groups is very disturbing,

The pro Palestinian demonstrators on college campuses and in public places in multiple cities have promoted violence and lawlessness.

Pro Israeli demonstrators are peacefully marching and demonstrating, as in, for example, the hundreds of thousands of American Jews and their supporters in Washington DC this past Tuesday.

It is alarming how America has to be on guard against those who would promote bloodshed and violence if they do not get their way in public policy of America toward the Israel-Hamas conflict.

This controversy is dividing America in an ugly way, and could affect the politics of the upcoming Presidential election of 2024, although most Republicans, including Donald Trump, if anything, are much more hardline in their support of Israel without any qualifications.

So those who support Hamas, or see them as somehow not the terrorists they are, have a rude awakening that most Americans clearly see Israel as the aggrieved nation, who witnessed the greatest loss of life of Jews since the Nazi Holocaust of World War II.

At this point, the Middle East is, as always, a cauldron of turmoil, and likely to become a major confrontational issue, adding to the dangers of domestic terrorism everywhere in America!

Lots Of Work To Do To Advance America Socially: No Time For A Respite!

America has a lot to be proud of, and we stand out as a beacon for the world community in many ways, BUT there is much troubling evidence of problems arising, rearing their ugly head, and demonstrating how much work is yet necessary to advance America socially!

We live in a nation where the rights of women are being curbed, rather than advanced, including

Rape problems in the military
Rape problems on college campuses
Denial of a woman’s rights to her own body and reproductive decisions
Denial of equal pay at work for women, and equal opportunity for advancement and promotion

In addition, there are troubling problems for minorities, gays, and labor as follows:

Troubling racial profiling of African Americans, Latinos and Hispanics, and Muslims in public places, and by police and law enforcement authorities
Endangered conditions for African American males, particularly young males, an endangered species
Discrimination continuing against gay men and lesbians
Active attack on labor rights to organize and bargain collectively

In theory, great strides have been made in the past on the rights and privileges of women, minorities, gays, and labor, but there has been an extreme assault on what supposedly had already been gained by these groups, on the part of right wing forces, represented by the Republican Party, corporations, and social conservatives!

So the battle for women’s rights, minority civil rights, gay rights, and labor rights continues, and there is no time for a respite, as the 2014 midterm Congressional elections and state government elections are just around the corner!
