Donald Trump Impeachment Trial

The Witness And Testimony Issue Can Be Resolved If The Republicans Wish It In The Donald Trump Impeachment Trial

John Bolton, the former National Security Adviser, and other witnesses, including Mick Mulvaney at the least, need to testify in the Donald Trump Impeachment Trial, and Chief Justice John Roberts needs to step in and rule on this matter, with the help of at least three Republican Senators.

It seems as if Mitt Romney, Susan Collins, and Lisa Murkowski are ready to vote for witnesses and testimony, and also, Lamar Alexander, Pat Toomey, Rob Portman and Jerry Moran seem leaning that way.

If all of these seven support each other, or at least four, then it will occur, but if not, Roberts needs to intervene if there is a 50-50 tie in the Senate.

It may not change the final vote on conviction, requiring two thirds to remove Donald Trump, but the trial, in order not to be a sham, MUST have witnesses and testimony, and Roberts has the responsibility to intervene if necessary!

Trump Defense In Impeachment Trial Is Weak, Lifeless, Boring, And Hypocritical

The Trump Impeachment Trial defense attorneys yesterday gave us a weak, lifeless, boring, and hypocritical defense.

Particularly disgraceful were Ken Starr and Alan Dershowitz, as they contradicted their stands on the Bill Clinton impeachment a generation ago.

The vast majority of legal and historical scholars are in total disagreement on impeachment views from these two attorneys.

Also, former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi, who assisted Donald Trump on the Trump University scam, made a fool of herself.

For Ken Starr now to deplore impeachment when he made a spectacle of pursuing Bill Clinton a generation ago is shameful.

And Alan Dershowitz lost all credibility as a legal scholar with his changing views, evolving as more confused than ever over the past week from what had been his honest, reasoned view a generation ago.

Time For Chief Justice John Roberts To Step In And Give Permission For Witnesses And Testimony In Donald Trump Impeachment Trial

The moment of reckoning is coming this week.

Chief Justice John Roberts, with his 65th birthday being celebrated today, has the opportunity to make history, and do the right thing.

The Chief Justice, with the new evidence coming out against President Donald Trump, can approve witnesses and testimony in the Impeachment Trial, including John Bolton, Mick Mulvaney, and others.

The revelation of John Bolton in his new book, revealed over the weekend, is a bombshell that requires further investigation and testimony by the former National Security Adviser.

Roberts has the authority to do so, and only a two thirds majority opposing it can stop this action.

It will make John Roberts controversial, but put him on the right side of history, which he is very conscious of.

John Roberts knows, in his heart of hearts, that Donald Trump is guilty of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress, and while he cannot make the US Senate convict and remove Donald Trump, he can influence the trial in the record of history.

In so doing, the US Senate and the Republican Party will be on trial in the court of history.

This is a turning point of history on which the reputation of Roberts will hang, so let’s hope he intervenes, appropriately, to allow an extended trial.

Donald Trump Tweet Storm Greater Than Ever, And Threatening Adam Schiff And Other Democrats Involved In Impeachment Trial

Donald Trump is now engaged in a furious tweet storm, greater than ever, and threatening Adam Schiff and other Democrats involved in the Impeachment Trial, continuing this week.

Trump sounds more like a Mob Boss, a Mafia Chief, as he talks about Schiff, Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, and others “paying the price”, as if they are committing treason by investigating and bringing the President to trial.

It now seems unlikely there will be any witnesses or new documents entered into the trial, and that means the trial will likely end by the weekend, with an acquittal.

This will embolden Trump ever more, making him more dangerous in the nine months up to the election, and it is now possible to believe he could find an excuse to declare martial law, and suspend the Constitution and Bill of Rights!

And the fear, if he loses the election in November, that he will refuse to concede, and will not give up the Presidency on January 20, 2021, requiring the military and Secret Service, under the rule of law, to remove him bodily from the Oval Office.

This could, however, lead to the danger of bloodshed and violence, and a serious threat of the breakdown of law and order, leading to civil war!

This is a very sobering time!

Nine Days To Iowa Caucuses

In the midst of the Donald Trump Impeachment Trial, the first test of support for Democratic Presidential candidates is only nine days away, occurring on Monday, February 3, when the Iowa Caucuses occur that evening.

With Senators Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders, and Amy Klobuchar forced to sit in the Senate to listen to the impeachment case, it could be that Joe Biden and Pete Buttigieg will gain an advantage, although Amy Klobuchar has won some editorial and political support in Iowa locations, and Bernie Sanders still seems to have an edge in many polls, although not all of them.

Iowa is totally non representative of the nation in its heavily white population, and hopefully will NOT be the first contest in future Presidential elections, but there is no question that whoever ends up on top ten days from now will have a boost that might be a major factor in that person winning the Democratic Presidential nomination to run against the most dangerous President in American history!

Despicable, Disgraceful Behavior By Lindsey Graham, Mitch McConnell, Marsha Blackburn, Rand Paul, In Midst Of Impeachment Trial Of Donald Trump

The first week of the Donald Trump Impeachment Trial has shown despicable, disgraceful behavior by Republican Senators, including Lindsey Graham, Mitch McConnell, Marsha Blackburn, and Rand Paul, among others.

Graham has made it clear he is more concerned about having unlimited Presidential power than the Constitution, but when a Democrat is President again, he will quickly reverse course.

Mitch McConnell is trying to shorten the trial, and deny new evidence and any witnesses, making the trial a mockery, if that occurs.

Marsha Blackburn has attacked one of the impeachment witnesses, Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Vindman, for having testified, and accusing him of a lack of patriotism, an outrageous charge.

Rand Paul has been mocking the idea of listening to the trial, and has shown lack of respect for the prosecutors, and argued that there should be no witnesses, a strange idea for a person who claims to be a libertarian, who should care about the dangers of unlimited Presidential authority.

These Republicans, and really all of the party in Congress, is making themselves a disgrace to the history and traditions of the party of Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Ronald Reagan, and George H. W. Bush.

House Impeachment Managers Brilliant, And Reflective Of The Diversity of America

The Democratic House Impeachment Managers, seven of them selected by Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, have conducted themselves in a brilliant fashion, and are reflective of the diversity of America.

Particularly exceptional are Adam Schiff of California and Hakeem Jeffries of New York. But also, Jerrold Nadler of New York, Zoe Lofgren of California, Val Demings of Florida, Sylvia Garcia of Texas, and Jason Crow of Colorado have performed well.

This group includes four men and three women; two who are Jewish (Schiff, Nadler); two who are African American (Jeffries, Demings); one who is Latina (Garcia); three who are long time veterans of the House (Nadler, Lofgren, Schiff); three who have served three years or less (Demings, Garcia, Crow); two each from California and New York, and one each from Florida, Texas, and Colorado. So all of the top four states in population, plus growing Colorado are represented by this group of seven members of the House of Representatives. And their ages range from 72 down to 40, with two in their 70s, two in their 60s, one in the fifties, and two in their 40s.

The Democrats are fortunate in having such talented members doing the job of informing the nation of the crimes and illegalities of Donald Trump, no matter what the result of the Impeachment Trial.

Republicans Are Involved In A Massive Coverup For Trump, And All Should Be Retired From Office!

After the first day of the Donald Trump Impeachment Trial, it is more clear than ever before that the Republicans in the US Senate, as well as earlier those in the House of Representatives, are more loyal to party and a leader than to the Constitution they were sworn to uphold.

Refusing to require Donald Trump to release documents and evidence to Congress is, in itself, an impeachable act.

Defending a man as disgraceful and law breaking as Donald Trump has been, is an inexcusable offense.

We are yet to see if four or more Republicans will agree, ultimately, to call for witnesses to testify in the impeachment trial.

If this trial becomes the total sham it seems moving toward, then the Republican Party, rightfully, should be punished by a total repudiation of all of its office holders in November.

Obviously, that will not happen, but hopefully, a massive wave similar to 2018, will lead to a Democratic gain of seats in the House of Representatives, and gaining the majority in the US Senate, with more than just the four seats needed to have a 51 seat majority.

The US Senate, As An Institution, Is On Trial

The US Senate, often called the greatest legislative body in the world, and based on the concept of the Roman Senate, is clearly, on trial.

It has had a grand total of 1,984 members since March 4, 1789, and at least a few hundred have been major players in US History.

It has also had its scoundrels and low lifes, but it has always played an important role in US history.

Courage and principle has often governed what happened, while other times, pure dirty politics has ruled the day, such as right now, as Senator Mitch McConnell, the Majority Leader, is doing everything he can to deny the American people a fair impeachment trial of Donald Trump.

The trial, sadly, may be a sham, but the Republican Party will pay for it with a loss of control of the Senate, and the defeat of scoundrels such as McConnell and Lindsey Graham.

History is waiting, and will not be kind to any US Senator who does not promote a fair trial!
