Donald Trump Second Impeachment Trial

Criminals In The Republican Party: Josh Hawley, Ted Cruz, Kevin McCarthy And Others Need To Be Prosecuted!

As the Second Donald Trump Impeachment Trial came to an end today, with only seven Republicans joining the Democrats for conviction, ten votes short of the two thirds vote required to convict, one thing is very clear!

The criminals in the Republican Party who promoted sedition and treason, and refused to accept the Electoral College votes, even after the Capitol Insurrection on January 6, 2021, need to be prosecuted by the Justice Department and Attorney General Merrick Garland, once he finally has his hearing to lead the Justice Department, and is confirmed.

It is clear that the Republican Party has delayed hearings for Garland, who already was mistreated in 2016, when his nomination to be an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court was prevented by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.

It may well be the most difficult position in the Biden Cabinet to be Attorney General in the present political climate, but justice demands that the Justice Department pursue prosecution of Senator Josh Hawley of Missouri and Senator Ted Cruz of Texas, the ring leaders in the promotion of Insurrection, but also six other Senators who joined them, as well as 139 House members, including House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy of California.

And while now Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell was not part of the treason-sedition crowd, he should be condemned for failing to support the conviction of Donald Trump!

The Capitol Police Force: True Heroes Who Need To Be Applauded And Appreciated For Their Sacrifices!

The US Capitol Police Force demonstrated great courage on the day of the Capitol Insurrection, January 6, 2021.

The tragedy of Brian Sicknick being murdered, and two other officers committing suicide after the horrific event, is a tremendous sacrifice. It needs to lead to prosecution of former President Donald Trump, after the end of the Second Impeachment Trial, made more outrageous by the reality that there has been no expressions of regret or sorrow by Trump.

Capitol Hill Police Officer Eugene Goodman was given notice of a Congressional Gold Medal, for steering the insurrectionists away from the Senate chamber, and saving Senator Mitt Romney and others in the process,

Other officers will also be rewarded for their sacrifices.

The Capitol Police Force are true heroes who need to be applauded and appreciated for their sacrifices!

It Is Time For Mike Pence To Condemn Donald Trump, And Call For His Conviction!

As the prosecution finished its case for the conviction of Donald Trump in his second impeachment trial in one year, there is one thought that crosses this author and blogger’s mind, and it seems hard to believe that no one is talking about this thought.

It is time for former Vice President Mike Pence, who was slavishly loyal to Donald Trump for four years, to do what he should do—condemn Donald Trump, for having no concern about the danger Pence faced on January 6, 2021, and call on Republican Senators for his conviction, and inability to run for public office again!

How could Pence avoid doing this is impossible to fathom, as even if Pence sees himself as a future President, Donald Trump abandoned him and would not support him for a future nomination, and ethics, morals, and principles should be enough to convince Pence that he must end the public career of a man who was ready to see him murdered, and did not intervene to protect him!

If Pence called for the conviction, there is a chance that 17 Republican Senators, at a minimum, would back the former Vice President, as eliminating Trump as a potential opponent in the future would benefit all Republicans, who wish to seek the Presidency.

So it is time NOW for Mike Pence to show some guts and courage, and work to end the public career of Donald Trump!

Absolutely Brilliant Presentation By House Prosecutors In Donald Trump Second Impeachment Trial

America can be proud of the nine member House Prosecution in the Second Donald Trump Impeachment Trial.

Watching their presentation evokes great emotions, at the tragedy of what happened on January 6, 2021.

January 6, the day of the Capitol Insurrection, will always be remembered in the same vein as September 11, 2001; December 7, 1941; and November 22, 1963, as days of mourning.

Jamie Raskin, the leader of the nine prosecutors, made every decent American proud, but the other eight prosecutors also demonstrated how decent and patriotic they are, and they will be well remembered in the long run of history.

The fact that one extra Republican, Senator Bill Cassidy of Louisiana, joined five other Republicans in legitimizing the trial, was a good development, but eleven more Republicans need to join the six (including Mitt Romney of Utah, Ben Sasse of Nebraska, Susan Collins of Maine, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania) to convict Donald Trump, and prevent him ever running again for public office.

If the Republicans were a decent group, which they are not, that would happen, but is highly unlikely to occur!

Points To Ponder As Second Impeachment Trial Of Donald Trump Begins

As the second impeachment trial of Donald Trump begins today, some points to ponder are worth considering.

Donald Trump lied incessantly over a fixed election when 60 court cases unanimously agreed the election in the various states being contested was totally fair, and lacking any corruption, as compared to 2016 and other earlier electionss.

Donald Trump was gleeful, enjoying the Capitol Insurrection, and unconcerned about the harm being done to the building, and the occupants, including many members of both houses of Congress, and Capitol Hill Police and staff members.

Donald Trump was inciting violence against his own Vice President, Mike Pence, and the Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, the two people in line of succession after himself, and had no concern about their welfare.

Donald Trump did not call in National Guard reinforcements promptly, forcing Mike Pence to assert himself finally after four years of being obsequious.

Donald Trump has never expressed any sense of sorrow over the loss of life of a Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick, and the other four victims of the Capitol Insurrection.

Donald Trump incited the mob by his language, and cannot claim that what he said was not promoting violence and destruction.

Donald Trump is like any citizen, not above the law, accountable for his behavior and actions, and does not have the constitutional right to promote insurrection and sedition, which is not part of freedom of speech under the First Amendment.

Donald Trump should be convicted as a warning to future Presidents that such abuse of power and promotion of violence and destruction will not be tolerated, and that politics is not the issue, but the survival of American democracy, and the regulation of executive power in the Presidency!

The Battle For The Soul Of The Republican Party Is In Full Swing As Trump Impeachment Trial Begins

The Republican Party is in its death spiral as the Donald Trump Second Impeachment Trial begins on Tuesday.

With only 5 Republican Senators supporting the move toward an impeachment trial; with only 10 Republican House members voting for the impeachment trial; with only 11 Republican House members supporting the action to take away the committee memberships of QAnon Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, it is clear that the battle for the soul of the party of Lincoln, TR, Ike, and Reagan is in full swing.

Will the Republican Party allow Donald Trump to remain their “God”, their “Savior”, and continue to promote conspiracy theories, hate, nativism, racism, anti semitism, Islamophobia, and misogyny?

Will they follow the lead of Mitt Romney, Ben Sasse, Liz Cheney, Larry Hogan, Adam Kinzinger and other mainstream conservatives?

Or will they follow the lead of Donald Trump, Kevin McCarthy, Jim Jordan, Matt Gaetz, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Ted Cruz, Josh Hawley and others who promoted insurrection at the US Capitol on January 6, 2021?

We saw the disintegration of the Whig Party in 1854, with its replacement being the Republican Party, and we may be seeing the same situation as we had then in the 2020s, as the “Trump” wing of the party is a disaster that never ends!
