Kamala Harris Has Much Republican Support, While Trump Has RFK Jr. And Tulsi Gabbard!

Democratic Presidential nominee Kamala Harris has much Republican support from those who have served under Ronald Reagan, George H. W. Bush, George W. Bush, and even Donald Trump, along with those who were involved in the John McCain and Mitt Romney Presidential campaigns.

Also, many former Republican Senators and Representatives have endorsed Harris, but sadly the vast majority of present office holders in Congress, and sitting Republican governors, have been unwilling to abandon Donald Trump.

At the same time, if one looks for Democrats who are supporting Donald Trump, the list is very short, including:

Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., who ran for President as an Independent, and then withdrew and endorsed Trump.

Tulsi Gabbard, former Hawaii Congresswoman who was a contender in Democratic Presidential primaries in 2020.

Rod Blagojevich, former Illinois Governor who served time in prison for trying to “sell” the appointment of a US Senator to replace Barack Obama, when he became President. Donald Trump pardoned him after he had served eight years in prison.

Peter Deutsch, former South Florida Congressman, but out of office for the past 20 years.

Kamala Harris And Expansion Of Democratic Presidents’ Social Reforms

Democratic Presidents for the past century have cared about the welfare of Americans, and have been able to promote and expand Federal protections.

So in 1935, Franklin D. Roosevelt accomplished enactment of Social Security, which Republicans have, constantly, wished to cut back on or eliminate over the years.

So in 1965, Lyndon B. Johnson accomplished enactment of Medicare, and the following year, Medicaid, for the elderly, handicapped, and poor, which Republicans have, constantly, attempted to cut back or eliminate over the years.

So in 2010, Barack Obama accomplished enactment of the Affordable Care Act (ObamaCare), covering millions of Americans who had no health care coverage, which Republicans have, constantly, attempted to cut back or eliminate since then.

Republican Senator John McCain cast the decisive vote to prevent elimination of this legislation under Donald Trump’s Presidency in 2017.

Now in 2024, Democratic nominee Kamala Harris is proposing that Medicare be expanded to cover Home Health Care for those unable to perform activities of daily living or have a serious cognitive impairment such as Alzheimer’s Disease.

Also, her proposal would expand Medicare to include vision and hearing, and end estate recovery from those who have passed away after having services.

So once again, Democrats have demonstrated social welfare as a prime role of the federal government, and have promoted what most European democratic nations have long covered. If left to Republicans, they would wish to end all such programs, based on their historical opposition.

One Month To Election Day: Are Polls To Be Believed?

With one month until Election Day, polls indicate Democratic Presidential nominee Kamala Harris has a slight edge over Donald Trump, but all the seven “Battleground” or “Swing” states are within the margin of error, so anything can happen in the next month to tip the result.

Allan Lichtman of American University has predicted Harris will defeat Trump, but no one can consider any prediction to be certain. Lichtman says the concept of an “October Surprise” is overrated as a factor, but certainly one cannot predict events that could sway voters who have not yet made up their minds.

So Harris is gaining the campaigning support of Barack Obama in particular, but also a host of other public celebrities, plus the support of hundreds of Republicans who worked under Ronald Reagan, George H. W. Bush, George W. Bush, and even in the Donald Trump Presidency, along with those who worked for John McCain and Mitt Romney.

Reality: If Trump Wins, JD Vance Likely Will Be President During The Term!

It is time for all Americans to understand that voting for Donald Trump insures that Vice Presidential nominee, Senator JD Vance, is likely to become President during the term.

It is clear that Donald Trump is in rapid decline mentally; that he looks very aged and stressed in recent rallies; that his views are constantly changing and are totally inconsistent; and that he is constantly rambling and losing his audiences as a result.

JD Vance has NOT promoted a sense of stability and decency, and instead, comes across as having a lower rating in public opinion polls than Sarah Palin, the Vice Presidential running mate of John McCain in the Presidential Election of 2008!

Vance adds NOTHING to Trump’s candidacy, and has alienated women in particular by his outrageous statements and assertions in the six weeks since he was chosen as Trump’s Vice Presidential running mate.

His own history of being a chameleon, calling Trump as like Hitler eight years ago, and now praising him, is clearly just self serving, as he is readying himself to be President.

His constantly changing religious views mark him as unstable, and for him to promote his religion for his children over his wife’s Hinduism, is odd, as usually, the mother’s religion is the one that children follow in most marriages of mixed religious views.

Also, Vance has close ties to the following right wing figures:

Senator Josh Hawley of Missouri
Senator Mike Lee of Utah
Senator Tom Cotton of Arkansas
Senator Marco Rubio of Florida
President of the Heritage Foundation Kevin Roberts
Media Personality Tucker Carlson
Former Trump Strategist Steve Bannon
Donald Trump Jr.

So anyone who thinks Vance is not significant, and would not play a major role in the future of Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans is living in delusion!

Joe Biden Exit Speech Brings Up Age Issue For Future

President Joe Biden gave a dignified, principled speech about his exit from the Presidential race last night.

However, it was sad to realize that his voice was weak, and that he seems to have far less energy and drive than one has seen in a public speech of a President in decades.

While every human being is different, it seems clear that no one in the future who is past the early 70s should be permitted to run for President.

President Dwight D. Eisenhower, who left office at 70 years and 3 months, at the time the oldest person to be President, made the statement that no one older than he was as he left office, should be President. That statement was ignored, but makes a lot of sense in retrospect.

Of course, there cannot be a formal age limit to run for the Presidency, as it would be perceived as “ageism”.

But after having Ronald Reagan, Donald Trump, and Joe Biden all demonstrating signs of decline in their Presidencies, and since in the case of Donald Trump, it would be wise to work to avoid anyone reaching 70 from having the advantage to run for the Presidency.

Let us not forget that Bob Dole and John McCain were also in their 70s when they ran for the Presidency, and that we still have a number of very advanced age Senators and Congressmen, and even Supreme Court Justices, but the need long term for younger leadership is essential!

JD Vance: Another Horrendous Republican Vice Presidential Nominee!

The Republican Party, historically, has often selected horrendous Vice Presidential nominees, and unfortunately, some of them end up as Vice President, making one concerned even more than normally, about the health and safety of the Republican President.

JD Vance of Ohio adds to a list of such nominees, including:

William E. Miller, running mate of Barry Goldwater in 1964
Spiro Agnew, running mate of Richard Nixon in 1968 and 1972
Dan Quayle, running mate of George H. W. Bush in 1988 and 1992
Sarah Palin, running mate of John McCain in 2008

Also, others, such as Jack Kemp, running mate of Bob Dole in 1996; Dick Cheney, running mate of George W. Bush in 2000 and 2004; Paul Ryan, running mate of Mitt Romney in 2012; and Mike Pence, running mate of Donald Trump in 2016 and 2020, while all “qualified” and experienced, had many negative aspects to their candidacies.

The only exceptions one could claim were fully qualified and acceptable were Nelson Rockefeller as Vice President to Gerald Ford, and George H. W. Bush as Vice President to Ronald Reagan, and also Bob Dole as running mate of Gerald Ford in 1976.

And now we have JD Vance, who has only served 18 months as a Senator from Ohio, and who has completely changed his views on Donald Trump from what they were in 2016. And Vance comes across as a MAGA extremist who is unwilling to support Ukraine in its war with Russia; wants no exceptions for rape or incest with a total ban on abortion; and is clearly perceived as a “mini Trump”, who could carry on the Trump views in the future Republican Party.

And realize Vance called Trump a potential Adolf Hitler eight years ago, and now embraces him! If that is not a danger sign to voters, then such voters have no principles or conscience!

Republican Party Destroying Its Future

While there are a small number of Republicans who are refusing to support Donald Trump in his Presidential campaign, the vast majority have decided to drink the Kool Aid and are sacrificing their principles, honor, and historical reputation in backing a convicted felon.

The hypocrisy is massive, and they have no sense of shame, ethics or morals.

The day will come when they will regret their decision to work against democracy and the rule of law, and they will go down as the villains who destroyed the party of Lincoln, TR, Ike, Reagan, the Bushes, Romney, McCain, and many moderate, mainstream Governors and Senators of recent decades.

A true, principled conservative party will rise from the ashes of the 170 years old party, now in its death knell!

Senator Joseph Lieberman Passing Reminds Us Of His Significant Role In American History

Former Connecticut Senator Joseph Lieberman passed away yesterday at the age of 82, tragically as the result of complications from a fall.

This sad news reminds us of his significant role in American history and politics.

A comparatively conservative Senator for a Democrat, specifically on foreign policy, while quite liberal on most matters of domestic policy, Lieberman became the first Jewish candidate on a national Presidential ticket as the Vice Presidential nominee for Al Gore in the Presidential Election of 2000.

Coming to the Senate after defeating liberal Republican Senator Lowell Weicker in 1988, and backed by conservative advocate William F. Buckley, Jr, who called Lieberman his “favorite Democrat”, he lost the Democratic nomination for his seat in 2006, but ran as an Independent and defeated his Democratic and Republican opponents, serving his fourth and last term until 2012, when he retired.

Lieberman was closely associated with Republican Senators John McCain and Lindsey Graham as “hawks” on the Iraq War, and McCain considered him for the Vice Presidency in 2008, before choosing the disastrous Alaska Governor Sarah Palin.

Lieberman was always highly controversial, but also remembered as very principled and a major factor in American politics for more than a generation.

For a person such as this author who sees himself as “progressive”, Lieberman often irritated with his overly hawkish views on foreign policy, and he did not show adequate support for either Barack Obama or Joe Biden, including engaging in the NO LABELS movement, which seems, fortunately, to be going nowhere in the upcoming presidential election.

Hooray! :) 14 Year Anniversary Of The Affordable Care Act (ObamaCare)!

Celebrations are in order for the 14 year Anniversary of the Affordable Care Act (ObamaCare), President Barack Obama’s greatest achievement, despite constant attempts of Republicans to destroy it over these years since 2010!

The Affordable Care Act now gives health coverage to 21 million Americans, and is a further extension of health care coverage beyond Medicare and Medicaid, all brought about due to Democratic Presidents, as well as Social Security!

It is not a perfect law, as nothing is, but far better than if these laws had never been passed.

And it is ironic that in 2017, it was a critic of the Affordable Care Act, Arizona Senator John McCain, who was the opponent of Barack Obama in the Presidential Election of 2008, who saved the legislation, and this just a year before his passing.

This anniversary is being celebrated by both President Obama and President Joe Biden, and everyone well knows that President Donald Trump tried so hard to destroy this legislation and coverage, and pledges to do so if he is returned to the Oval Office, along with threats against Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid being targeted yet once again by Republicans!

Joe Biden’s Five Speeches On Democracy Struggle Against Trumpism!

Ever since Joe Biden was inaugurated President on January 20, 2021, he has discussed the threat to democracy represented by Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans.

Biden spoke on Inauguration Day in January 2021; in his first speech to Congress in April 2021; twice in 2022, in Philadelphia in September and at Union Station in Washington DC in November; and most recently in Arizona a few days ago when he dedicated a new John McCain Library.

It is clear to anyone who is paying attention that America faces its greatest crisis in preserving democracy since World War II.

In that regard, Joe Biden is following the lead of Abraham Lincoln in the Civil War and Franklin D. Roosevelt in World War II!
