The South Dominates In Potential Republican Presidential Contenders!

The American South was the area that revolted against the federal government, and seceded from the Union in 1860-1861, culminating in the American Civil War (1861-1865), with the Republican Party representing the Union cause, and the Democratic Party being dominant in the South.

The South remained strongly Democratic until the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was passed under Democratic President Lyndon B. Johnson.

Since then, most of the South has become strongly Republican, and promoters of white supremacy and Christian Nationalism, to the point that most of the potential Republican Presidential contenders in 2024 derive from the South!

These include the following:

Donald Trump, Ron DeSantis, Marco Rubio, and Rick Scott of Florida
Ted Cruz and Greg Abbott of Texas
Asa Hutchinson and Tom Cotton of Arkansas
Nikki Haley and Tim Scott of South Carolina
Glenn Youngkin of Virginia

These eleven Republicans are not all sure bets to run, but all have been rumored, although some seem to be backing away from doing so.

Other potential contenders come from the Northeast area of the US, including

Chris Sununu of New Hampshire
Chris Christie of New Jersey
Larry Hogan of Maryland

And finally, from the Midwest area of the US, we have such potential contenders as

Mike Pence of Indiana
Mike Pompeo of Kansas
Josh Hawley of Missouri
Kristi Noem of South Dakota
Adam Kinzinger of Illinois

And finally, we have Liz Cheney of Wyoming

Mike Pence’s Decision To Fight The Subpoena For Testimony On January 6 Insurrection Is A Sign Of Weakness,NOT Principle!

Former Vice President Mike Pence has decided to fight the subpoena for testimony on the January 6, 2021 Insurrection at the US Capitol, pursued by Justice Department Special Counsel Jack Smith.

This is stunning, for Pence to believe that in his role as President of the Senate (as Vice President) that he is fighting this subpoena on constitutional grounds.

Pence was threatened with death by the mob on January 6, and Trump had no concern about his life or welfare, so for Pence to be unwilling to testify is mind boggling!

Pence’s ambition to run for President is, seemingly, more important than the fact that his life and that of his wife, other family members, and Secret Service agents, were in great danger.

Pence has to be delusional to believe that the “Trumpsters” who hate him for refusing to allow an alternative counting of the electoral vote, would somehow, magically, decide that they are willing to support his Presidential candidacy over Trump!

Pence has zero chance to be the nominee, and he is degrading himself meanwhile, and destroying the one moment of courage and commitment that he displayed on January 6.

This is a truly pitiful display of misjudgement that will undermine his historical legacy as a man who was a toady daily to Donald Trump, except for one fateful moment that saved American democracy!

At the end, Pence will be forced to testify, after causing unnecessary delays, and he will NOT be President of the United States!

The Presidential Election Campaign Of 2024 Has Begun!

With the new year 2023 upon us, the Presidential Election campaign of 2024 has begun!

It actually began when former President Donald Trump declared his candidacy on November 15, 2022, but with the last seven weeks having been a total disaster for any Presidential plans.

This is not just what the January 6 House Committee investigating the US Capitol Insurrection has recommended, criminal charge against Donald Trump.

It is much more than that, including even that his own daughter, Ivanka Trump, has made clear that she has no interest in being engaged in his campaign, as she was in 2016 and 2020!

The public support for Donald Trump has been deteriorating dramatically, and the odds are good that a multitude of Republican potential Presidential candidates will start announcing their campaigns soon.

Among them are likely the following:

Former Vice President Mike Pence
Former Secretary of State and CIA head Mike Pompeo
Former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis
Texas Governor Greg Abbott
South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem
South Carolina Senator Tim Scott
Texas Senator Ted Cruz
Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin
New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu
Former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson
Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie
Former Maryland Governor Larry Hogan

And the two Republicans on the January 6 House Committee might also announce their candidacies:

Former Wyoming Congresswoman Liz Cheney
Former Illinois Congressman Adam Kinzinger

In the mind of this author and blogger, while he would not vote for any of these in November 2024, the following would be seen at this point as “tolerable”, including if they actually won the White House, no special order:

South Carolina Senator Tim Scott
New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu
Former Maryland Governor Larry Hogan
Former Wyoming Congresswoman Liz Cheney
Former Illinois Congressman Adam Kinzinger

The most intriguing of this list of five would be, in the mind of this author and blogger, if either Larry Hogan or Adam Kinzinger ended up as the nominee!

The Republican “Donnybrook” Begins At Republican Jewish Coalition Gathering!

The Republican Presidential race has begun, with Donald Trump declaring his candidacy last week in a very uninspiring manner, and a whole slew of potential candidates showing up to display their “virtues” at the Republican Jewish Coalition gathering this past weekend in Las Vegas.

At least 21 potential Republican candidates are in the mix for 2024 at this point!

The potential candidates include those who worked for Trump, and those who looked the other way with his reckless, lawless behavior in office. It also included some who were neither category, but seem unlikely to make much traction!

Among those who worked for Donald Trump are former Vice President Mike Pence; former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo; and former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley.

Among those who looked the other way are Texas Senator Ted Cruz; Missouri Senator Josh Hawley; Florida Senators Marco Rubio and Rick Scott; Kentucky Senator Rand Paul; and a number of Governors, including Ron DeSantis of Florida; Greg Abbott of Texas; Glenn Youngkin of Virginia; and Kristi Noem of South Dakota.

A third category are those who avoided embracing Trump, including former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie; outgoing Maryland Governor Larry Hogan and Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson; and New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu.

Also, former Republican 2012 Presidential nominee and Utah Senator Mitt Romney; and Wyoming Congresswoman Liz Cheney and Illinois Congressman Adam Kinzinger are truly anti Trump, and the latter two, of course, have served on the January 6 House Committee investigating the US Capitol Insurrection.

And an intriguing possility is African American Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina!

Mike Pence Proves He Is A Coward, Unwilling To Testify About Trump Threat To His Life On January 6, 2021!

Former Vice President Mike Pence will go down in history as one of the most ineffective and cowardly Vice Presidents.

Pence has refused to testify before the January 6, 2021 House Committee investigation of the US Capitol Insurrection, claiming “separation of powers” prevents it!

This is pure poppycock, as Pence needs to testify and hold Donald Trump accountable, especially considering that he was the target of a possible lynching on January 6, 2021, provoked by his “boss”, Donald Trump!

Pence demonstrates he has no principle and no concern about the dangers that day’s events represented, and as Congressman Adam Kinzinger of Illinois has stated, he will not go down in the annals of history in a positive light!

Reality: Donald Trump Wanted To Murder Mike Pence And Nancy Pelosi, Next In Line Of Succession!

It is time to stop excusing or dismissing the crimes of Donald Trump, most specifically on January 6, 2021!

Reality is that Donald Trump was ready to do ANYTHING to stop the official Electoral vote count that showed that Joe Biden had defeated Donald Trump!

So it is clear, without any shadow of a doubt, that Donald Trump wanted to murder Vice President Mike Pence and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, the two in line of Presidential succession!

Trump wanted to go to the Capitol, but the Secret Service prevented it, but it is clear that Trump had no scruples, ethics, morals, or conscience on that day, and really, throughout his Presdency, culminating in the plot to overthrow the US government, and install himself as a Fascist dictator!

The answer is to arrest and imprison Donald Trump, as anyone else who was engaged in such dastardly deeds would face that prosecution.

So it is up to Attorney General Merrick Garland to take that action, shortly after the Midterm Elections of 2022 have passed!

There is no alternative, even if Trump provokes violence and bloodshed, and in fact, if that ensues, then no possibility of avoiding pretrial detention, as a threat to the American Republic!

The Obscene Republicans Who Believe In No Exceptions For Abortion!

It makes any decent person sick and disgusted to realize there are Republicans who are so extremely antiabortion, that they do not care about incest, rape, and life of the mother!

And even more so, those Republicans who think a 10 year old who was raped should have to go through childbirth, and live out the horror of the rape or incest, which occurs much more than many think!

So we have Pennsylvania Repubican gubernatorial nominee Doug Mastriano; South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem; and former Vice President Mike Pence as three of the examples of those who have absolutely no concern about the harm visited on young girls who are victims of rape or incest!

This extremist, cruel stand should automatically eliminate Kristi Noem and Mike Pence from consideration for the Presidency in 2024 and beyond!

How could anyone be that obscene as to have that hardline a view on abortion, and to force girls and women, often at risk to their health and life, to follow through on a pregnancy?

There has to be a special place in Hell for such individuals!

This is extremism Christianity, far from what Jesus professed!

Donald Trump Is Criminal In So Many Ways!

The January 6, 2021 House Committee Hearings make it clear to anyone who is sane, that Donald Trump is criminal in so many ways!

Trump was willing to see his Vice President Mike Pence assassinated by a mob!

Trump was willing to see mass loss of life of members of Congress, including Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi!

Trump was willing to pressure state legislators to promote a false narrative on a stolen election, “The Big Lie”, and used the power of his office to intimidate many, although there was, thankfully, pushback!

Trump was willing to intimidate and terrorize election workers, and destroy their sense of safety!

Trump was willing to promote extremists against Republicans who dared to challenge anything he said or did at any time in his Presidency and since he left office!

Face the facts:

Trump is a criminal, and could have been part of Organized Crime!

Trump is a seditionist and traitor, inspiring the US Capitol attack, and defying constitutional norms!

Trump is an evil force, undermining American democracy, and incites his supporters, which include anti semites, nativists, racists, white supremacists, misogynists and homophobes!

Donald Trump and all of his collaborators need to be held accountable legally, and face the consequences of trial, conviction, and imprisonment, as a lesson to any future authoritarian elements, who would wish to emulate his actions and behaviors!

Donald Trump, The Criminal Grifter Of Gullible, Naive Americans!

In the same vein as yesterday’s post, the second session of the January 6 House Committee hearings demonstrated that Donald Trump is a criminal grifter, appealing to gullible, naive Americans to send him money to fight what he called “The Big Steal”, that he won the Presidential Election of 2020.

Instead, that myth is the “Big Lie”, and it is now clear that people around Trump told him, conclusively, that he had not won the election, but Trump kept on lying, and spread the hysteria that led to the January 6 Insurrection at the US Capitol.

This caused loss of lives of Capitol Police; massive number of injuries among these loyal servants of the Capitol; destruction of the center of American government; and threats to Vice President Mike Pence, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and all of the Congressmen and Senators at the US Capitol that day.

This is clearly the example of Donald Trump, the crooked businessman, making money off the supposed election results, with at least $250 million raised, and no accountability as to what has happened to that illegal fundraising amount.

This is criminal activity, as everything else is regarding Donald Trump, and the Department of Justice and Attorney General Merrick Garland are examining what the January 6 House Committee has gathered as evidence.

Hopefully, this will lead to criminal charges against Donald Trump, as no one, not even a former President, should be immune to prosecution for crimes committed in office or out of office!

Donald Trump Had No Concern About The Threats To The Life Of Mike Pence!

It is stunning and hard to fathom that a President would have no concern about the threats to the life of his Vice President.

Yes, Thomas Jefferson and Aaron Burr did not get along.

Neither did John Quincy Adams and John C. Calhoun get along.

And also, Andrew Jackson and Calhoun were at odds.

But never has a President welcomed harm on his Vice President, as Donald Trump did toward Mike Pence on January 6, 2021!

He showed support for the lynching, the hanging, of Mike Pence!

This is incomprehensible, that any political leader would not be concerned, and loyal to those who work around him!

How could any decent human being, no matter what his political and ideological loyalties, support and continue to excuse Donald Trump for his lack of empathy, decency, compassion, toward even his own Vice President?

But Donald Trump has no regard for human life, and this will be exposed by the January 6 US House Committee, as it starts holding public hearings on this Thursday evening, June 9!

Donald Trump needs to be prosecuted to the full extent of the law, as a seditionist, a traitor, a criminal, whose lust for power encouraged massive lawlessness and destruction at the US Capitol!
