Oklahoma

The Most Anti Obama State: Oklahoma!

If one looks at the fifty states, and wonders which state is the MOST anti Barack Obama, based on voting support and polls, that distinction goes to the Great Plains state of Oklahoma.

In the Democratic primary for President, with a group of unknown candidates, Obama only won 57 percent of the vote and lost 15 counties, according to an article in the Washington Post.

Obama received his lowest percentage of the Presidential vote in Oklahoma in 2008, gaining only 34 percent of the votes against John McCain.

Obama lost all 77 counties in the state in 2008, and only received a maximum of 42 percent in Oklahoma City, the most urban but not much, part of a state overwhelmingly rural.

With no concentrated minority population, with the black population only eight percent in the state, the heavily white and culturally conservative state is no breeding ground for Obama support.

And yet, the state has had some Democratic officeholders recently, including the Governorship, and is not regarded by statistics to be one of the most conservative states.

It is just a fact that he is not liked for who he is and what he believes in, a perfect example of how no politician can be well liked and supported everywhere, and Oklahoma is simply Obama’s Achilles Heel!

There Will Be NO President Romney! The Demise In Process!

It is now certain that there will be NO President Mitt Romney taking the oath of office on January 20, 2013.

It is also very likely that there will be someone other than Mitt Romney as the GOP Presidential nominee, after the Republican National Convention in August in Tampa, Florida.

Mitt Romney is loved by NO ONE other than his family and his paid workers, sorry to say.

Mitt Romney is not liked by many Americans because he is simply too rich, and wears his wealth constantly. Even his wife says she does not feel wealthy, imagine that!

Mitt Romney is distrusted by conservatives and Tea Party activists because they see him as a Massachusetts liberal who promoted RomneyCare, very close to the ObamaCare that he now condemns.

Mitt Romney is not liked because he is a Mormon, and evangelical Christians have a large impact on the heartland of the nation, and think of Mormons as not being Christian, but instead as a cult.

Mitt Romney is distrusted because he is the most massive flip flopper, and could be redefined in the vocabulary with his name meaning that term!

Mitt Romney has shown he cannot win the heartland of the nation against competition, having lost Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Oklahoma and Colorado at this moment of writing to Rick Santorum, as well as losing South Carolina and Georgia to Newt Gingrich, and Tennessee to Santorum. Mitt Romney is NOT going to win the Atlantic Coast or the Pacific Coast, and he is not going to win Massachusetts or Vermont in the election, and will have a major struggle in Virginia, which, if all candidates had been on the ballot, he likely would have lost as well!

At this point, Mitt Romney’s only areas of strength are New England, the section he lived in for 40 year and served in government; Michigan, where he was born and grew up to adulthood; and Mormon areas in the Far West, including Arizona, Utah, Nevada, and Idaho. And he is unlikely to win any of these in November, except maybe Arizona, Utah and Idaho, but not Nevada!

Mitt Romney has shown that despite all of his fantastic wealth, that does not give you the White House, and in fact, most Americans would feel uncomfortable with someone as filthy rich as Romney, who is worth more than the last eight Presidents combined, and assuming he lives to age 85, twenty years from now, he would be the first billionaire President, just from interest on his quarter of a billion fortune over a generation!

Mitt Romney does not represent America, and never could do so in any form!

The demise of Mitt Romney is in full bloom, even with Ohio still out at this writing, but with Rick Santorum leading, by 2,500 votes with 84 percent of the vote counted.

A reminder: EVERY Republican President has won Ohio, but if Romney either loses or only wins by a bare margin over Santorum in Ohio, how can anyone think he is able to win Ohio over Barack Obama in November?

With exactly eight months to the election, this Super Tuesday is good news for Barack Obama, above all!

Super Tuesday: End Of The GOP Presidential Race? Don’t Bet On It!

Super Tuesday should see the end of the Presidential nomination race, as it often has in recent Presidential cycles.

However, it was not so for the Democrats in 2008, and it is unlikely that it will be the end of the Republican race today.

There is a good chance that Rick Santorum will win Ohio, Tennessee and Oklahoma tonight, and that Newt Gingrich will win the biggest state in delegate totals, Georgia.

If that happens, or most of it, then Mitt Romney cannot “close the deal” and start to look to the Fall Presidential campaign, and if that is what happens, then the Republicans face further turmoil and division.

The Republican Party establishment can only hope that the race is over, and House Majority Leader Eric Cantor of Virginia, and Oklahoma Senator Tom Coburn both endorsed Romney last weekend, hoping that the blood letting among the candidates would be over.

It is still reality that Mitt Romney remains unpopular among many Republicans, and many still wish there was some alternative to those in the race.

It will be a gargantuan task for Mitt Romney to keep discontented people in the party, as well as convince Independents and women in large numbers, to vote for him. The likelihood of success is very low!

Romney Candidacy In Crisis In Midwest And South

Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney is facing a crisis in the next two weeks that he may not be able to overcome, and may doom his Presidential candidacy.

On February 28, he faces the challenge of former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum in Michigan, Romney’s home state, and right now, Santorum is leading in the state of the auto industry which Romney promoted to go bankrupt, and is instead having a major renaissance.

On March 7, he faces challenge from former House Speaker Newt Gingrich in Georgia, Gingrich’s home state, and Tennessee and Oklahoma, as well as in Ohio, where Santorum is surging.

If Romney cannot win Michigan and Ohio, leading Midwestern states, and Georgia, Tennessee, and Oklahoma, major southern and border states, then his candidacy is in its last throes.

As it is, the battle for a majority of delegates at the Republican National Convention in Tampa in August is certain now to drag on into the late spring or early summer, not exactly what Mitt Romney believed would happen when he entered the race for the Presidency!

More On Hispanic And Latino Numbers In American Population! And The Shift In African American Population!

The Census Bureau informs us that Hispanics and Latinos have not just become one out of every six Americans, a total of 50 million in the population in 2010.

They have also become the largest minority group in 191 of the country’s 366 metropolitan areas!

Even in states such as Nebraska and Oklahoma, they have had a growing impact!

A 42 percent increase in their numbers is astounding, at the same time that many African Americans are migrating back to the South after a century of leaving the South for the North!

And the number of white Anglos have fallen in all metropolitan areas, and have seen, for instance a drop in Las Vegas from 60 percent to 48 percent!

So the political effects will be major in scope in coming years, including the reapportionment battle in many state legislatures, which will have a long range effect on the fortunes of the Republicans and the Democrats!

Texas Tea Party And Conservative Republican Dominance Today, But Long Range, Democrats Have Advantage

Texas has become a solid Tea Party-Conservative Republican state, arguably the most right wing state, although with strong competition from Florida, South Carolina, Idaho, Utah, Oklahoma, Arizona and Kansas.

It has the longest serving Governor in the nation, Rick Perry, who has endorsed the idea of state secession, even though that was supposedly resolved 150 years ago!

It is the home of Senator John Cornyn, and Congressmen Louie Gohmert, Joe Barton,  Randy Neugebauer, Jeb Hensarling, Pete Olson, Ted Poe, Pete Sessions,  Lamar Smith, and of course, the best known of all, libertarian Ron Paul!

It is also a state in which two Democrats just switched parties and gave the GOP a two thirds plus one margin in the State House, making it a veto proof legislative body.

This is a state which has promoted secession and states rights; propagandized in the History curriculum so as to distort and omit large portions of history and de-emphasize historical personalities and events; worked to undermine the study of evolution in favor of Christianity on the state level; became the leader of anti abortion and anti gay rights crusades; and has an oligarchy of powerful financial interests who aim to keep Hispanic, Latino and African American populations in a dependent state and deny them bilingual education, equal job opportunity, and even the ability to study their own heritage, as it may lead to immigration raids to arrest illegal immigrants.

It is hard to believe that Texas was the state that gave us Sam Houston,Lyndon Johnson, Sam Rayburn, and many others who made the state renowned!

The problem for the GOP is that while now they have a tremendous edge, there could be a complete collapse of the Republican dominance within a generation in the state.

This is due to the fact that there are so many Hispanics in Texas, along with African Americans, that as time goes by and as the modern Republican Party manages to turn off most minority people, the likelihood of Democrats regaining majority status in the House of Representatives and in state government grows greater, particularly due to the present economic downtown, in which there are inadequate efforts to provide jobs and educational opportunities as government cuts back social services.  So although the GOP is more dominant than ever, Texas is going into turmoil which bodes for a change of the leadership statewide as Hispanic and Latino population become citizens and go in droves to the Democratic Party!  So Texas is likely to go “blue” in the near future, meaning by 2025-2030!

Female Vs. Female Political Races And More Women Running Against Men: A Record Breaking Year?

A fascinating part of the 2010 election cycle is the fact that there will be more female vs. female races than we have seen before in American history!

For the Senate, the only such race will be Democratic Senator Barbara Boxer against former Hewlett Packard CEO and Republican Carly Fiorina in California!

For the office of Governor, there will be two all female races–in New Mexico, where Republican Susana Martinez will run against Democrat Diane Denish; and Oklahoma, where Democrat Jari Askins will compete against Republican Mary Fallin! Both Democrats, by the way, have been Lieutenant Governor of their states and still are!

In Congressional races, the most notable is Republican Congresswomen Michele Bachmann of Minnesota against Democratic state legislator Tarryl Clark!

But also running in South Dakota for the state wide Congressional seat are Democratic Congresswoman Stephanie Herseth-Sandlin against Republican state representative Kristi Noem!

Of course, there are other women running for high office, but against men! Among them are gubernatorial candidates in California (Republican Meg Whitman), South Carolina (Republican Nikki Haley), and Florida (Democrat Alex Sink). For the Senate, we see Sharron Angle (Republican of Nevada) and Linda McMahon (Republican of Connecticut). Additionally, there are numerous Congresswomen running for reelection, and many women who are opposing men in and outside of the House of Representatives for House seats.

Will this be a major “Year of the Woman” in American politics? Maybe it will not be a record breaker, but certainly women are playing a growing role in American politics, and of course we are not talking here about the numerous women who sit in state legislatures, city councils, boards of education, and other elected bodies, or who are running to be part of these government structures!

Nativism Spreading: Will Oklahoma, Utah, And South Carolina Follow The Lead of Arizona? :(

Just as the US government has sued in federal court to prevent the Arizona immigration law from being put into effect on July 29, there are strong indications that at least three other states are planning similar actions next year! 🙁

The three states are not all that surprising, when one considers the reputation that these states have gained by their political choices!

Oklahoma, the state of Senators James Inhofe and Tom Coburn, arguably two of the worst Senators in American history, is one of them!

A second state is Utah, a Mormon dominated state, which has just defeated a strong conservative, Robert Bennett, for another six year term in the Senate, in the GOP state convention. Bennett was a reasonable man, so of course, he was defeated, and the ensuing primary runoff of two Tea Party favorites led to the nomination and likely election of Mike Lee, a candidate with similar views as Rand Paul in Kentucky and Sharron Angle in Nevada!

And the third state is South Carolina, the state of Senator Jim DeMint, also one of the worst senators in US history! But this is also the state of Governor Mark Sanford, who has stayed in office despite his embarrassing sex scandal, going to Argentina to see his lover behind his wife’s back, and not informing state officials of his location while absent! This is also the state of Congressman Joe Wilson, who yelled “You lie!” at President Obama as he gave a speech to the nation on Capitol Hill!

These three states would rate with many observers as among the three worst governed, so it is not surprising that they would be seriously considering nativist legislation!

The question is whether the US government’s action regarding the Arizona immigration law will be able to prevent this unwise and discriminatory trend spreading to these three states, and possibly others! 🙁
