“The Progressive Professor” Away In Washington, DC Until April 10

The author is taking a five day vacation, visiting his son in Washington, DC, between today and next Tuesday, April 10.

However, the news will continue to be followed, and further commentary will be given upon
my return on April 10. Happy Easter and Happy Passover to everyone who reads this blog!

Three Years Of “The Progressive Professor” Today!

Three years ago today, “The Progressive Professor” began commenting on public affairs, politics and history!

At this point, there have been 2, 207 posts, and 1,012 comments, including some responses by the author to questions or comments of those who have contributed to this blog directly, with others having responded on Facebook.

Readership is growing, and it is hoped that more who read this blog will decide not just to read it, but to write directly on the blog, with their thoughts and perspectives, in order to enrich the material that this blog offers.

So happy 3rd Anniversary, and many more years in the future, as this nation deals with the challenges that will affect the future of all of us!

The author promises always to be honest and blunt in his assessment of events and personalities, as understanding the effects of what goes on in public affairs is crucial to the knowledge and understanding of our democracy which faces tremendous challenges every day!

Second Anniversary Of “The Progressive Professor” And Counting! :)

Today, August 11, marks two years of this blog, and one year since the name change on the new website!

Over these two years, there have been 1,320 entries, starting off slowly but accelerating rapidly, whereby the average month sees approximately 75 entries!

Over 24 months with 1,320 entries, it averages out to 55 entries per month so far, but again that average will continue to rise from a slow beginning!

Additionally, there have been 578 comments, and that number has been growing rapidly as well!

I appreciate everyone who participates, even those who are nasty and angry, as with the illegal immigration issue which led to my detailed response, but interestingly, not one of those critics ever reacted to my response!

As always, the purpose of this blog is to promote discussion, whereby readers learn and the author learns! There is no need for insults, or anger, and I hope that one event that was so sudden and shocking will not occur again, and instead, civil discourse can be promoted!

In any case, as the third year of “The Progressive Professor” begins, as always, good reading! 🙂

“The Progressive Professor” Returning To His “Roots” From July 24-August 1!

The author will not be adding any entries from now until his return from New York City at the beginning of August!

I am taking my two sons back to NYC, their “roots” as well as mine, for the first time since we moved to Florida in 1989!

This is a wonderful family event, but I will keep up on the news and have commentary again when I arrive back online on August 2! 🙂

Good reading! 🙂

“The Progressive Professor” Reaches The Milestone of 20 Months And 1,000 Entries!

Today, April 11, marks 20 months of this political blog, and this entry is the 1,000th I have placed since August 11, 2008!

Exactly 8 months ago, August 11, 2009, the name “The Progressive Professor” was born, and it has, both in the year before the new name, and in the eight months since, been an absolute delight to express my thoughts on the political issues of the difficult times we live in!

I have been very appreciative of all of the participants in this blog, some of whom I know, and many who I do not personally know, for their interest and willingness to express their views on the controversies at hand!

Many have been supportive, while some have been critical, and I have tried, when necessary, to respond to the criticisms in an appropriate manner! The number of participants have increased as time has passed, and I hope there will be much more interaction in the future, but I appreciate every one of the 413 comments (so far) that have been made!

My pace of entries has increased so that since the new name was adopted eight months ago, I have ranged from approximately 70-80 entries per month. I intend to keep up this pace, except that when I go on vacation, there will be gaps where I will be unable to respond to events on a timely basis. Otherwise, I intend to continue the trend of having at least one entry every calendar day!

I wish to remind readers of this blog that I have a convenient list of more than 100 links that will be of great use to you, as they are to me! So this blog can be useful to you in more ways than one!

So continue your reading, and your reactions to my blog entries, and I hope there will be many more participants as time goes by! 🙂 Thank you very much for reading! 🙂
