Kevin McCarthy Would Be A Disaster As Speaker Of The House!

Trepidation is growing at the looming possibility that Kevin McCarthy could become the Speaker of the House of Representatives in January 2023, two heartbeats away from the Presidency!

While John Boehner and Paul Ryan had their major shortcomings, either of them would be far superior to McCarthy, who has demonstrated his total lack of morals, ethics, and principles in his years working his way up leadership to the potential Speakership!

McCarthy was totally freaked out on January 6, 2021, and momentarily said and did the right thing in condemning Donald Trump, but his ambition took over, and he made up with Trump at Mar A Lago, and denied reality of the criminal activities of that day, including ignoring the suffering of US Capitol police officers!

McCarthy was willing to ditch Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger, and work with Elise Stefanik, Jim Jordan, and the 147 House Republicans who refused to accept that Joe Biden won the Presidency!

He is willing to work with the most extremist members of his caucus, including Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert, and he has made it clear that the goal of the Republicans is to destroy ObamaCare (The Affordable Care Act), as well as phase out Medicare and Social Security, and move to impeach President Biden, Attorney General Merrick Garland, and other cabinet officers, even though none would be removed from office by such action!

The lunatic fringe of the Republican Party would hold the reins of power, and promote chaos, including trying to adopt a national abortion ban! As conservative columnist Jennifer Rubin of the Washington Post and MSNBC host Chris Hayes have stated, the Republican Party would “wreak havoc”, including threatening not to raise the debt limit, and stopping aid to Ukraine, a gift to Vladimir Putin!

So the Republicans would do what Donald Trump was doing in his Presidential term—cozy up to Putin, and undermine NATO, a horrifying scenario, which would undermine both American democracy and efforts to maintain democracy in Europe and elsewhere!

Donald Trump, The Criminal Grifter Of Gullible, Naive Americans!

In the same vein as yesterday’s post, the second session of the January 6 House Committee hearings demonstrated that Donald Trump is a criminal grifter, appealing to gullible, naive Americans to send him money to fight what he called “The Big Steal”, that he won the Presidential Election of 2020.

Instead, that myth is the “Big Lie”, and it is now clear that people around Trump told him, conclusively, that he had not won the election, but Trump kept on lying, and spread the hysteria that led to the January 6 Insurrection at the US Capitol.

This caused loss of lives of Capitol Police; massive number of injuries among these loyal servants of the Capitol; destruction of the center of American government; and threats to Vice President Mike Pence, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and all of the Congressmen and Senators at the US Capitol that day.

This is clearly the example of Donald Trump, the crooked businessman, making money off the supposed election results, with at least $250 million raised, and no accountability as to what has happened to that illegal fundraising amount.

This is criminal activity, as everything else is regarding Donald Trump, and the Department of Justice and Attorney General Merrick Garland are examining what the January 6 House Committee has gathered as evidence.

Hopefully, this will lead to criminal charges against Donald Trump, as no one, not even a former President, should be immune to prosecution for crimes committed in office or out of office!

Kevin McCarthy A Total Sycophant To Lawbreaker Donald Trump: Disqualifies Him For Speaker Of The House!

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy has revealed himself as a a total sycophant to lawbreaker and criminal Donald Trump, and this should disqualify him to become Speaker of the House of Representatives!

McCarthy has accepted the Republican National Committee’s description of the horrors of the US Capitol January 6, 2021 Insurrection as “legitimate political discourse”, despite the reality of the death, injuries and destruction incurred that day by US Capitol Police dedicated to the protection of the pillar of American democracy, and all who work in that revered institution.

McCarthy has sold his soul for his ambition, and it will scar his name forever in history, sharing a last name already infamous with the demaogue of the Red Scare, Senator Joseph McCarthy of Wisconsin, not a relative, but forever condemned by all decent, sane people!

If the nation is so unfortunate that the Republican Party manages to win the majority for the 118th Congress, the likelihood is that despite McCarthy’s obsequiousness toward Trump, he will be challenged by others for the Speakership, who will feel that he is not obseqious enough. This includes Ohio Congressman Jim Jordan, who might very well face prosecution on his own, as if anything, he is more dangerous to American democracy and the rule of law than even Kevin McCarthy!

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, for all of his disgraceful public record, has taken a different tack and is NOT trying to dismiss the events of January 6, 2021, and has denounced the Republican National Committee statement of “legitimate political discourse”.

So Kevin McCarthy is going down a path of self destruction, and potentially, federal charges of undermining the Constitution of the United States!

On 89th Anniversary Of Hitler Taking Power, Donald Trump Promotes Further Violence And Sedition!

Donald Trump, the authoritarian Fascist, on the 89th anniversary of Adolf Hitler taking power, threatened the nation with further violence and sedition, if he runs for President in 2024, and fails to win the election.

This led to criticism by some Republicans, including Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, Senator Susan Collins of Maine, and New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu on the Sunday news programs.

But will the mass of Republicans in the House and Senate and governorships and other positions join them, and insure that the Electoral Count Act of 1887 will be updated to prevent any possibility of another constitutional crisis as we had on January 6, 2021?

The concept that Trump promotes that he would give pardons to the January 6 insurrectionists is a true travesty of justice and of the sacrifices of the Capitol Police on that day!

The horrific scenes of violence and destruction perpetrated on that day by traitors to the Constitution, who refused to endorse the Electoral College results, and incited the crazies to come out and engage in armed insurrection, must be prevented against by all means necessary!

Commemoration Of January 6, And Condemnation Of Mike Pence For His Lack Of Appreciation!

The nation is coming up to the anniversary of the most dangerous attack on the US Capitol since the War of 1812, and the most dangerous threat to our nation’s survival since the Civil War.

The January 6, 2021 Insurrection will be commemorated this coming week by the Congress and the White House, but Donald Trump is planning an event to disrupt and further create instability in order to destroy American democracy.

And former Vice President Mike Pence has shown no apprecation for the sacrifices of US Capitol Police Officers who helped to save his life from likely hanging and death on that horrific day in Washington, DC.

Pence was a total toady on that day, making him the worst Vice President since Spiro Agnew, worse than even Dan Quayle, and on a short list of Vice Presidents who have disgraced the office, including Aaron Burr and John C. Calhoun.

For Pence to think he has a real opportunity to be President indicates how seriously morally corrupt he is, or how mentally deranged he is.

Imagine that Pence had to have Dan Quayle convince him to do his duty, and count the legitimate Electoral College votes, when he clearly was morally weak and considering caving in, and being part of the unconstitutional Insurrection to destroy American democracy.

The Republican Party has become a party of traitors and seditionists, unwilling to accept reality that Donald Trump incited the January 6, 2021 US Capitol Insurrection!

Only a small few have been willing to fight against the “party line” promoted by House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and others in the party, who instead are attacking Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger as “Pelosi Republicans” for their willingness to join in the investigation by the January 6 House Committee, which began yesterday.

A particularly obscene group of four House Republican members, which should be known as the “G Traitors and Seditionists”—Matt Gaetz of Florida, Louie Gohmert of Texas, Paul Gosar of Arizona, and Marjorie Taylor Greene—held a press conference after yesterday’s hearing, trying to negate the courage shown by the four police officers—Harry Dunn and Aquilino Gonell of the US Capitol Police and Michael Fanone and Daniel Hodges of the Washington DC Metropolitan Police Department.

These four disgraces need to be prosecuted and expelled from the Congress, as traitors to the Constitution, American democracy, and the rule of law!

Liz Cheney Appointed By Nancy Pelosi To January 6 House Committee

Wyoming Republican Congresswoman Liz Cheney, daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, a major critic of Donald Trump and the US Capitol January 6 Insurrection, has agreed to be part of the House Committee being organized by the Democratic majority in the House of Representatives.

A strong conservative, nevertheless, Cheney voted to impeach Donald Trump in the second impeachment, and also supported a January 6 Commission to investigate the treason and sedition of Trump supporters who attacked the US Capitol, caused the deaths of five people, including Brian Sicknick, and injured overall more than 140 Capitol Police on that disgraceful day.

But the Republicans refused to cooperate in the investigation, so Pelosi has gone ahead and formed a Select Committee instead, and Cheney courageously decided to join by appointment of her ideological opponent, the Speaker of the House, because she knows that a full investigation of the tragedy is essential.

Cheney emphasized allegiance to the Constitution and rule of law, and the importance of a peaceful transfer of power between Presidencies, which has been the hallmark of American democracy for nearly 250 years!

With July 4 coming in two days, patriotism is more important than loyalty to a corrupt, authoritarian oriented leader, who wishes to establish a dictatorship, and destroy the American political tradition!

On Memorial Day Weekend, Republicans Show Contempt For Preservation Of Democracy!

Memorial Day weekend is a time for remembrance of the contributions of generations of Americans who sacrificed their lives to protect and preserve American democracy.

It is a time to give thanks to those who gave their lives for their country in the Civil War, World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan, and other lesser conflicts in American history.

But now, the Republican Party, the party of Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Dwight D. Eisenhower, and Ronald Reagan, has shown contempt for the concept of preservation of democracy, by refusing to back a bipartisan January 6 Commission to fully investigate the US Capitol Insurrection, which caused the death and injuries of scores of US Capitol Police.

The Republican Party has allowed itself to become part of the cancer of Donald Trump, which is destroying the party’s history and reputation.

No matter what, however, there will be full investigation and accountability for the horrid events of that day, including the threatened hanging of Vice President Mike Pence, and the murder of Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, and the dire threats to other Senators and Congressmen, who if not for the Capitol Police commitment, might have become victims as well!
