Donald Trump, the extreme narcissist, and mentally very unstable, and more dangerous every day for the nation, botched his last attempt to show concern and empathy for the American people, by his atrocious reaction to the CoronaVirus Pandemic!

Any chance he had to redeem himself to the American people and his historic reputation is lost, as he has refused to promote contact tracing or testing, and is very willing to accept mass loss of life without any guilt or conscience!

All that matters to Donald Trump is to be reelected, with the thought that if somehow, through foreign collusion, voter suppression, or gerrymandering combination, he is reelected, the nightmare we are living through will become much worse!

This is not just about massive loss of life, but also the abuse of power by a reenergized President who will go further in destroying the Constitution and Bill of Rights, setting up a Fascist dictatorship that his Republican Party will abide by. This will be instead of promoting the principles enunciated by Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, and other historic Republicans of principle and common decency over the 166 years of the party’s history!

Once we lose our basic civil liberties and civil rights, how can we ever regain them? How can we protect the vulnerable among us, including the disabled, the elderly, the young, and racial and ethnic minorities, which will suffer more than the general population?

That is why, as stated in my History News Network article of April 29, the Election of 2020 is the most significant one since 1940, in that our whole way of life is in danger, as it was in the four previous elections discussed in the article—1860, 1864, 1932, and 1940!

Donald Trump’s Values: Money And Self Glorification Over Lives, Compassion And Empathy!

For anyone who is naive and clueless enough at this point of time to think that Donald Trump is a decent human being, now such people are being made fully aware of his total warped sense of values in the midst of this CoronaVirus Pandemic affecting the entire world!

Donald Trump is a narcissist to the extreme, with his values being gaining more and more money, as if he can take it to the grave with him. His life is based also on self glorification, and having everyone tell him how great and successful he is, even in the midst of reality that he has been a failure in his business life, his personal life, and now his political life!

The difference that exists is that he is in the process of destroying the lives of millions upon millions of Americans with his desire to return to so called “normal”, everyone back to work and everyday life in the midst of an aggressive virus that is the greatest health crisis for the nation and the world since the Spanish Flu Epidemic of 1918-1919.

His stupid followers will follow his lead down to destruction, and mass loss of lives, and not just the elderly!

But Donald Trump lacks a sense of reality, and has no compassion or empathy for the suffering of others, as all he cares about is the damn stock market, down now close to 40 percent from what it was at its all time high, February 22, 2020, just 31 days ago.

This crisis, and how Trump is dealing with it in such an horrendous manner, will be recorded in history for the survivors of this pandemic, at the same time that many state governors and mayors will be remembered for their courageous leadership, much more “Presidential” than this excuse for a human being!

It is more important for Donald Trump to be reelected, so he can wage further war on the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, than to save lives by requiring sacrifice by all of us! This has become mantra of the Republican Party, the so called Pro Life Party, a mockery of the truth that the GOP is the party of death and destruction!

Unconstitutional And Illegal To Delay Or Cancel Presidential Election Of 2020!

Crooked Attorney General William Barr is promoting the idea of delaying or canceling the Presidential Election of 2020, as part of a plan to install Donald Trump as Dictator For Life, and it must and will be opposed by all legitimate law enforcement and constitutional authorities!

The Constitution makes it clear that a national election will be held every fourth year, and nothing has ever prevented that! And midterm elections are held every four years between Presidential elections, and nothing has ever prevented that.

In 1812, America was engaged in the War of 1812 against Great Britain, but a national election was held on time.

In 1814, at a time after Washington DC was attacked, and the White House and Capitol Hill were burned by the British in August, the midterm elections were held on time.

In 1846, in the midst of the Mexican War, midterm elections were held on time.

In 1862, after the massive loss of life in the Battle of Antietam during the Civil War, elections were held on time

In 1864, in a time of massive loss of life during the Civil War, a national election was held on time.

In 1918, as World War I was coming to an end but not yet having occurred, midterm elections were held on time.

In the years 1930, 1932, 1934, 1936, and 1938, in the midst of the Great Depression, midterm and national elections were held on time.

In 1940, as Hitler was invading Europe and Japan advancing in Asia, and America staying out of World War II, a national election was held on time.

In 1942, as Americans fought on all battle fronts in World War II, midterm elections were held on time.

In 1944, after the D Day Normandy invasion in World War II, national elections were held on time.

In 1950, in the midst of the Korean War, midterm elections were held on time, and the same in the national election in 1952.

In 1966, 1968, 1970, and 1972, during the Vietnam War, midterm elections and national elections were held on time.

In the age of terrorism since September 11, midterm and national elections have been held on time every two years.

There is ZERO excuse for using the CoronaVirus pandemic as a reason to destroy our constitutional system, and any such attempt must be met with full force by constitutional authorities, who must prevent it, and arrest any perpetrators who attempt to sabotage American democracy!

Strong Possibility That Democrats Will Have A Tumultuous National Convention, Reminding Us Of 1968

There is a growing feeling that the Democratic Party will be divided all the way to the national convention in the second week of July in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Neither the progressive nor moderate wings seem likely to be able to gather enough delegates to lock up the nomination before July, as things now stand.

The Nevada Caucuses, South Carolina Primary, the 14 states on Super Tuesday, and 10 other states in the two weeks following Super Tuesday, might decide, but no certainty at this time.

The longer the struggle goes on, the more likely, horrible to say, that Donald Trump COULD win reelection, and destroy the Constitution and rule of law, making it impossible to recoup the damage that has been done during these three years of his Presidency.

The last time the Democrats were totally divided was 1968, and it led to the victory of Richard Nixon over a good, competent, decent man, Hubert Humphrey, who would have been far better than Nixon was.

The question remains: who is best equipped to win the Midwest, the area that had Hillary Clinton won, Donald Trump would not be President today, creating a constitutional crisis never ending!

The Urgent Need To Switch The US Senate To Democratic Control In 2020 And Beyond

The Presidential race is heating up, but one must never forget that the battle for control of the US Senate by the Democrats is urgent.

The Senate has become the place that proposed legislation dies much too often, as now when 395 House passed bills are lying dormant, as Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell refuses to call them up for consideration and a vote.

If any progress is to be made in the next four years on urgent domestic issues, the Senate MUST go over to Democratic control in 2020.

And certainly, the future of the Supreme Court and lower courts is doomed if the Republicans keep control of the Senate and the White House.

At the most basic level, Ruth Bader Ginsburg is reaching 87 this year, and Stephen Breyer is reaching 82, and they cannot go on forever in service.

If they are replaced by right wing Justices, the Constitution and rule of law is in as much danger as a second term of Donald Trump in the Oval Office.

So emphasis on Senate control going to the Democrats is a top priority, and over the next months, this blog will examine the Senate races which will determine the future of American government after 2020!

Nine Months To The Most Urgent Election In American History!

Nine months from today, November 3, is the most urgent election in American history, as America will never be the same if Donald Trump is reelected to a second term in the White House!

Yes, there have been other crucial elections, including 1860 (Abraham Lincoln); 1932 (Franklin D. Roosevelt); and 1940 (FDR).

These elections centered around the upcoming Civil War; the tragedy of the Great Depression at its lowest moment; and the upcoming US involvement in World War II.

But while the Civil War, the Great Depression, and World War II were all massive crises for America, we now face a true demagogue out of control after an impeachment trial in which much of the evidence and essential witnesses to the wrongdoing of Donald Trump were not permitted to be included, due to the corruption and abandonment of the oaths taken by Republican Senators to uphold the Constitution and rule of law.

The Republican Party has besmirched the historic reputation of the US Senate for all time, and have lost all credibility as a viable political party.

It is essential for the party to be soundly defeated in as many House and Senate races as possible, and for the total repudiation of Donald Trump, who will go down in history as the worst and most dangerous President we have ever had, having abandoned all common decency and respect for the law!

Donald Trump needs to be held accountable for his transgressions, and for accountability under the law when he leaves the White House, having worsened the lives of tens of millions of Americans with his vindictive, lawless, and uncaring agenda!

The Republican Party Has Disgraced Itself, And Has Undermined The Rule Of Law And The Constitution

The Republican Party–the party historically of Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush–has disgraced itself, and has undermined the rule of law and the Constitution.

The party, founded on principles of anti slavery and promotion of human rights in 1854, is now a party that endorses lawlessness, nativism, racism, misogyny, worship of money as all that matters in life, and no compassion for those less fortunate.

It is a party that represents a dying America, one of white Christians who want to bring back the America of the 1950s, and prevent the reality of a multi racial, diverse population that is on the horizon in a generation from now, when they will be the majority of the population, a trend that cannot be changed.

The Republican Party has sold its souls to an evil, corrupt leader, and have doomed their reputations in history.

They have destroyed the American experiment in a democratic republic, and the future looks gloomy.

If there was ever a need for a commitment to “throwing out the rascals”, it is in this upcoming Presidential election. This may be the last chance to save the America from a cancer that will totally destroy the nation, making it a country that will no longer be the shining star for refugees who want a new life, the dream fulfilled of generations of immigrants.

So all Democrats and those who have left the Republican Party mantle must work night and day for the next nine months to expunge Donald Trump and his ilk, including members of the party in both houses of Congress, from their power centers!

Alan Dershowitz Trashes Laurence Tribe, Fellow Harvard Law Professor, But Only Undermines His Own Credibility On Presidential Power

Retired Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz went out of his way yesterday, in the first of two days of questioning of the prosecution and defense lawyers in the Donald Trump Impeachment Trial, to trash fellow Harvard Law Professor Laurence Tribe.

Dershowitz has come under fire for arguing that Trump has NOT committed an impeachable offense, and he went further yesterday to claim that anything a President does to help his political campaign, even using foreign nations’ assistance, is legal and not an abuse of power, a startling statement with zero merit!

Dershowitz has undermined his own credibility as an expert on the subject of impeachment, with his complete reversal from the time of the Bill Clinton impeachment trial, and with almost all law professors and historians taking the completely opposite view.

According to the view of Dershowitz, Presidential power is unlimited, and if that is the trend of the future, then the Constitution is in shreds, and the idea of a republic is destroyed!

To trash a respected professor such as Tribe is a terrible tactic, and shows the lack of ethics and common sense of Alan Dershowitz!

Donald Trump Tweet Storm Greater Than Ever, And Threatening Adam Schiff And Other Democrats Involved In Impeachment Trial

Donald Trump is now engaged in a furious tweet storm, greater than ever, and threatening Adam Schiff and other Democrats involved in the Impeachment Trial, continuing this week.

Trump sounds more like a Mob Boss, a Mafia Chief, as he talks about Schiff, Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, and others “paying the price”, as if they are committing treason by investigating and bringing the President to trial.

It now seems unlikely there will be any witnesses or new documents entered into the trial, and that means the trial will likely end by the weekend, with an acquittal.

This will embolden Trump ever more, making him more dangerous in the nine months up to the election, and it is now possible to believe he could find an excuse to declare martial law, and suspend the Constitution and Bill of Rights!

And the fear, if he loses the election in November, that he will refuse to concede, and will not give up the Presidency on January 20, 2021, requiring the military and Secret Service, under the rule of law, to remove him bodily from the Oval Office.

This could, however, lead to the danger of bloodshed and violence, and a serious threat of the breakdown of law and order, leading to civil war!

This is a very sobering time!

Despicable, Disgraceful Behavior By Lindsey Graham, Mitch McConnell, Marsha Blackburn, Rand Paul, In Midst Of Impeachment Trial Of Donald Trump

The first week of the Donald Trump Impeachment Trial has shown despicable, disgraceful behavior by Republican Senators, including Lindsey Graham, Mitch McConnell, Marsha Blackburn, and Rand Paul, among others.

Graham has made it clear he is more concerned about having unlimited Presidential power than the Constitution, but when a Democrat is President again, he will quickly reverse course.

Mitch McConnell is trying to shorten the trial, and deny new evidence and any witnesses, making the trial a mockery, if that occurs.

Marsha Blackburn has attacked one of the impeachment witnesses, Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Vindman, for having testified, and accusing him of a lack of patriotism, an outrageous charge.

Rand Paul has been mocking the idea of listening to the trial, and has shown lack of respect for the prosecutors, and argued that there should be no witnesses, a strange idea for a person who claims to be a libertarian, who should care about the dangers of unlimited Presidential authority.

These Republicans, and really all of the party in Congress, is making themselves a disgrace to the history and traditions of the party of Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Ronald Reagan, and George H. W. Bush.
